G3 Alpinist Climbing Skin

G3 Alpinist Climbing Skin

But that's about all they have going for them. I find they don't stick to the snow as well as Black Diamond skins, They don't go on skis or come off skis as well as Black Diamond skins. These skins will get you to the top of the hill, but they'll require just a little more effort than necessary. So I say, meh... get the BD skins.

Outdoor Research Furio Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 3, 2011

I was loathe to admit my trusty old hard shell needed replacing. So many memories... But once I pulled this steely eyed beauty out of the shipping bag I knew my life would be forever altered. Kept me dry in alaska, keeps me dry in Utah.

Armada Anchorage Ski Bag

Armada Anchorage Ski Bag

Rating for this product: 5 April 12, 2011

So first of all, this bag is effin huge. I easily put 2 pairs of skis, my clothes, and my ice climbing boots in this thing. Actually, you can put way more in this bag than the airport will let you carry. The wheels are smooth and none of my stuff was damaged. Its got well placed pockets. If you're gonna travel with skis buy this sucker.

G3 Onyx AT Binding

G3 Onyx AT Binding

Rating for this product: 2 April 12, 2011

I've been using these bindings all season. I've been touring in the Wasatch backcountry and skiing at the Canyons. They've been good for short bc runs, no problem on groomers. A little play between my ski and my boot when I'm charging hard. I took them to Alaska for a couple days of skiing and they basically fell apart. My heels popped loose repeatedly, a toe pin sheared off in the threads, and I had to take them to a car mechanic in Valdez to have it drilled out. Bummer. It can be very difficult to engage the toe piece via a ski pole on an angle or in powder. I've lost heel risers multiple times. You can accidentally switch from ski to tour mode while skiing. I had the brakes installed and they wouldn't release if I came out of my bindings, so I just installed the leashes and took the damn brakes off. There isn't much aluminum involved in this binding, he bulk of it is PLASTIC. Just buy the Dynafits.

Marmot Trail Wind Hooded Jacket - Men's

Marmot Trail Wind Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 July 28, 2010

This jacket is unnoticeable in my pack. It cuts wind, sheds light rain, and is brilliantly green. It stuffs down to nothing and weighs even less. Awesome!

Chaco Hipthong Sandal - Men's

Chaco Hipthong Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 May 3, 2010

I owned the basic flips until my dog destroyed them and thought these would be a sweet upgrade. As flips they are fine but when I crank down the strap thing it forces the flip flop forward off the front of my foot. It feels very unstable and pretty much useless. If I did it again I'd stick with the basic flips.

Perfect for touring, pitching a tent, fumbling stuff. Dry well when stuffed in my coat. Not too warm, but then I didn't buy them for that.

Pull them out of the box, stuck 'em on my ski's and pulled a sled over hill and dale in the Wind rivers for 6 day. Never had a problem even on the steepest hills. Clumped up once on a warm day. bomber.

Incredible

Backcountry.com Shift Welder Hoody - Men's

Backcountry.com Shift Welder Hoody - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 10, 2009

This jacket is bomber. Killer construction, light weight and looks sexy, too. I wore it on an extended trip through the Wind Rivers and it held up beautifully. I wore it with one thin base layer and it breathed great and repelled water and snow all day long. When I wet it out under a hard shell a night in my sleeping bag dried it out fine. comfortable over a helmet and goggles. I'm 5'10", 170 lbs and bought a small (weird, I know), it fits slim and I don't layer much under it so it's perfect.

Julbo Dolgan Large Sunglasses - Spectron 4 Lens

Julbo Dolgan Large Sunglasses - Spectron 4 Lens

Rating for this product: 4 May 10, 2009

I bought these right before a 6 day trip into the wind rivers in May. Great for most weather, too dark if it gets really cloudy. fogged up under high exertion, but I used some anti-fog spray once and they haven't fogged up again. Also, I look super pimp in these. I have a big wide head and they fit comfortably and never felt like they were falling off, whether skiing or climbing or chillin.
