Outdoor Research Paladin Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 26, 2012

I bought my Paladin to replace my Lockoff Jacket from The North Face, as I wanted something equally streamlined and lightweight with a trim fit. I originally wished the Paladin used GORE-TEX, but so far the Pertex has performed equally well. I've taken my Paladin on Cascades and Olympics backpacking trips -- summer and winter -- where its light weight and packability make it an obvious choice. I also wear it around Seattle on wet days. The trim fit is exactly what I was after, and I LOVE that the pockets double as vents - can you get more minimal than that? So far, so great.

Awesome all-around tent at a bargain price

The North Face Rock 22 Bx Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 August 14, 2011

I've had my Rock 22 for six years, and the thing is nukeproof. Mine has sheltered me from Tetons hail, Cascades rain and snow, Sierras wind, and everything in between. It's not the lightest tent, nor is it the most breathable. And while it isn't spectacular in any area, it's good in all of them. I'd highly recommend this tent to anyone looking for a great all-around tent at a great price.

Therm-a-Rest Prolite Plus Stuff Sack

July 8, 2011

I bought the ProLite Plus pad but the standard ProLite stuff sack, as the salesman assured me it wouldn't make a difference. With a Herculean effort I can get the pad into the stuff sack. My question is, is it substantially easier to get the ProLite Plus into the ProLite plus stuff sack, and is it worth buying the pad-specific sack? Thanks.

Good enough for the Highlands. Good enough for me.

The North Face Lockoff Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 4, 2010

I took my Lockoff to the Scottish Highlands and wore it on hikes in Glencoe. Though it was incredibly windy and wet to the extreme, the Lockoff kept me dry as a bone so I could head right to the pub for a cask-conditioned ale at journey's end. Great fit. Great performance. The North Face Summit Series gear is at least as good as the best stuff out there, and often much, much better. I couldn't be happier with this jacket.

Chaco's still got it!

Chaco Z/2 Unaweep Sandal - Men's

Chaco Z/2 Unaweep Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 22, 2006

I loved my last pair of Chaco Z/2s into the ground, and eventually wore through the Terreno sole. When I first got my new Z/2s with the Unaweep sole, I wasn't a fan of how they didn't feel quite as burly as the original Terrenos, but after having worn them every day since I took them out of the box (except for a period of a few days when I sent them back to Chaco so they could customize the strap length), I’m in love again! My new Chacos are still the most comfortable footwear I own. If you want to get as close to barefoot as possible without getting kicked out of the 7Eleven, this is it!
