I like it

Jetboil PCS Bundled w/ Companion Cup

Jetboil PCS Bundled w/ Companion Cup

Rating for this product: 4 October 17, 2008

The Jetboil performs quite well. What I like best is the how compact it is and the coffee press you can get for it. You can fit the gas canister, burner and heat exchanger, coffee press and the pot support and stability kit all into one cup. It is quite energy efficient and relative fast, but I must admit that I now would rather have bought the MSR Reactor Stove after seeing how well it performs...much faster, more fuel efficient and silent and almost as compact. These stoves are in my opinion mainly for heating water so I don't see the need for a companion cup. For the gourmet cook I would recommend another stove even if you can use the group cooking system or some other pot.

A very good tent

Black Diamond Eldorado Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Black Diamond Eldorado Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Rating for this product: 5 October 17, 2008

I really like this tent. I bought it in 2005 and use it both for backpacking and mountaineering. Summer and winter.

The fabric, ToddTex, performs really well in all conditions I've used it in. I've used it in temps from about +20 to -20 degree C. The inside stays nice and dry at all time in rain and snow. Just be sure to vent well at least when cooking inside in the winter. Else the inside might freeze and block the membrane. I've heard the fabric has problems in very humid environments but have'nt tried that.

Setup is super easy and fast, just takes a little bit of practice. The footprint is small, but the inside is quite roomy imo, steep walls and quite good headroom. Large enough place for 2 (185 cm, with essential gear) in the winter with room to spare for cooking. I've even spent a few nights with 3 in this, but then one of us was just 2-3 months old :) Obviously it isnt too roomy in the latter two conditions but it did the job very well.

It performs well in winds as far as i've experienced, but I have'nt tested it in wind speeds above 70 km/h. Just be sure to use the guy-lines and keep in mind the wind direction. The fabric seems really solid but its a bit stiff and a bit difficult to pack down small.

Nice tent

The North Face Aguila 33 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

The North Face Aguila 33 Tent 3-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 October 10, 2008

The tent has a quite good space/weight ratio and is very easy to set up. Pole system seems very rigid. The inner tent has steep walls, 2 large doors and a quite good headroom. The mesh add to this so it seems even roomier inside. If it is windy there is a bit of a draft since there is quite a lot of mesh on the inner tent and the rainfly does'nt go all the way down on the sides. Good floor space in the vestibule, but the walls are'nt steep. The tent seems waterproof and has endured a couple of nights with rain, not heavy though, without any leaking into the inner tent. I wish there was a few attachment points for guy-lines on the long sides of the rainfly. If you are spending a lot of time in the tent the color can be a bit depressing compared to a more bright, e.g yellow tent imo.

Great sleeping bag

Marmot Pinnacle Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down - Women's

Marmot Pinnacle Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 10, 2008

I bought the mens model and this one. A great sleeping bag. It packs down really small and it is nice and fluffy after a few moments out of the stuff sack. The stuff sack is not waterproof. Marmot delivers the bag with a huge storage sack as well. We have used them from 15 to -5 deg C so far and it is nice and warm with a good sleeping pad (Exped Downmat). Them mens regular model is a little bit longer but they fit well togheter if you buy reft and right models. The female model even has a small pocket near the top...i guess for earrings :)

Great sleeping pad

Exped DownMat Sleeping Pad

Exped DownMat Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 October 10, 2008

Great sleeping pad. It is a little bit heavy but very comfortable and warm. If you go for the deluxe model make sure there is room for your buddy in the tent cause it is quite wide. It is easy and fast to inflate once you get the hang of it.
