Lib Technologies TRS C2BTX Snowboard
March 19, 2011
TRS is def comparable to the t.rice in flex. I've ridden both but keep going back to the skate banana as my daily driver.
It's less about skill level and more about how you like to ride. I think anyone intermediate to expert could have a blast on a TRS.
Believe in the banana.

Your friend will want the 30" for sure. You could likely get by with the 25"
Weight recos are under specs on the MSR site:

Better yet - invest in a splitboard!

Lib Technologies Skate Banana Original BTX Snowboard

159 would be money. I'm bigger than you but prefer a smaller board and the 159 is my daily driver in all conditions. You might be able get away with a 156 at your weight on a skate banana since it rides bigger but I would totally recommend a 159.

Ortovox M2 Avalanche Beacon
June 5, 2009
No, you don't need to have the same type of beacon (I have a DTS tracker (easier to use than the ortovox IMO) and my friends have different models. Depending on where you live, there are classes available for basic beacon usage, backcountry survival, and snow science (Avy 1, etc). I'd highly recommend investing in at least a basic course when the snow hits again. Your friends will live to thank you for it.

Thule Peloton Bike Mount

Yes, it'll fit. Unless you have a very light bike I recommend getting the adapter cross bars though. The factory racks on foresters are kind of flimsy to support a bike(s).

Giro 2008 Omen Helmet
May 29, 2009
Definitely get the larger one. It'll be smaller before the padding packs out a little and you can wear something thin underneath it if necessary. A helmet that is too small is no fun at all.

Oakley Silicon O 3.0 Hat
May 27, 2009
7 1/4 would be closest fitted hat size (L/XL for this hat). That's actually 22 5/8" which would be perfect since you generally want a slightly larger hat in my experience.

7.875" eye-to-eye length with a 2" stroke. Honestly though, I doubt you'll notice that big of a difference between the RP2 and th RP23 riding XC. Backcountry needs to get more geometry and build info on here if they plan on selling bikes.

K2 Cinch Vette Snowboard Binding - Women's
May 20, 2009
Best idea is to find them at a shop and try them with your boots as it really depends on the profile of your boot (e.g. Salomon F-series have a very low profile and can fit into a smaller binding). Barring that I would say go for a medium to be on the safe side. Backcountry has an awesome return/exchange policy if necessary.

Voile Split Decision Kit
May 18, 2009
I know someone who split a mtx mullet and seemed pretty happy with it this season. I don't think it's related to mtx specifically, more to lib's core materials, but I believe it lost almost all of its camber quickly. Zero to minimal effect on skinning up.

DAKINE Session Pack - 400cu in
May 15, 2009
Pretty well. It would definitely be more stable with a waist strap but I wear this pack on all-mountain and DH rides and it does the job. Biggest gripe is the design of dakine's chest strap that seems to pop off where it clips to the shoulder strap pretty often.

They'll fit, you may need an extension based on the size of your lid though. I wear a-frames and have a smith variant brim and a giro g10. A-frames rock and fit great with both.

They should/could theoretically be riding the same size board as weight is the primary determining factor. experience, strength, etc. are also a factor and a shorter board will be easier for beginners to handle initially.

MSR Denali Evo Ascent Snowshoe
April 28, 2009
I would recommend getting soem 30" MSR lightening ascents. I'm similar build and show size to you and these things rock. Unfortinately guys like us just have to go with the long ones. With the denalis you'll need big extensions to keep you afloat when breaking trail. Definitely more expensive, but overall higher quality. check out reviews here and around the web. http://www.backcountry.com/store/CAS0488/MSR-Lightning-Ascen
Or, just get a splitboard ;-).

Ruffwear Web Master Harness
April 24, 2009
Nope, this type of harness will likely not stop your dog from pulling. You'll want an easy walk to gentle leader from a pet supply store. This will take the pressure of their neck when they do pull but (most likely) won't stop the pulling.

Smith 2008 Variant Brim Helmet
April 24, 2009
Totally disagree, when I got mine the brim was rattling and barely attached. It's not part of the helmet, it snaps in and pretty flimsy. I ended up squirting some superglue into the mold and now it's all good and feels solid.

Burton Vapor Snowboard
April 24, 2009
Not the vapor for sure if you're looking for an all-mountain board. I had the chance to check one out a couple times and that thing is stiff and washes out on hardpack like there's no tomorrow. Super light. I was used to riding lib mtx edges though so take this with a grain of salt.

Bern Baker Helmet w/Knit Liner DO NOT USE
April 23, 2009
These things are tiny and if you have a bigger head (I have a huge melon) skip it. The larger ones are "hard hats" not helmets. Better than the free lid you got at helmet night at the baseball game I guess. Better choices out there for sure.
