Real nice pants

Outdoor Research Tremor Softshell Pant - Men's

Outdoor Research Tremor Softshell Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 9, 2008

I took these out during storms in California to walk the dog for a good 45 minutes to an hour. During all that wind and torrential rain, the pants held up really well. I was warm and dry before the seams near the crotch and knees started leaking about 35 minutes in. They're water-resistant, not water proof so I wasn't really upset.

I expected a little bit better, but was pretty pleased with how it held up given the weather. In drizzle and snowy conditions I think these pants would hold up great.

Love the removable gaiters and the water tight zips. All in all, a great soft shell pants that can be your do everything pair.

right price, right features, but still annoying

Highgear Summit Altimeter Watch

Highgear Summit Altimeter Watch

Rating for this product: 2 April 5, 2007

This watch, functionally, works great. It has pretty much everything you need at a great price (vs. Suunto). The gripes I have though outweigh the positives. The first is setting the alarm at night. The set button is the same as the light, and the light is never on long enough to set the alarm. The other is the size. At first, it's sweet having a huge watch, then you try to put your pack on and the straps get stuck on it. Or you bend your wrist and it pushes the buttons. Annoying.

Great jacket - wish it was a tighter fit

Mountain Hardwear Chugach 3D Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Chugach 3D Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 18, 2007

The Chugach was an awesome jacket. Lightweight and comfortable. I could easily go out with just a lightweight base layer in 35 degree weather and stay warm while walking briskly. The only problem was it was a little loose, and I wasn't a big fan of the color schemes. Technically, an awesome jacket. Style-wise, it could use a little work.

The North Face Redpoint Jacket - Men's

The North Face Redpoint Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 18, 2007

I had some trouble picking between the redpoint and the Mountain Hardwear chugach jacket. Both are light and warm. Both are seriously awesome jackets. I just happen to like the redpoints fit and look a little better. It fits a little tighter and I prefer the colors. All in all, you can't go wrong with either jacket, it just depends on if you like it bigger (Mountain Hardwear), or tighter (The North Face)

Ride Timeless Snowboard

Ride Timeless Snowboard

Rating for this product: 4 September 20, 2006

This snowboard is ridiculously fast. It's stiff, holds an edge and just bombs down the mountain. It's got a nice pop off lips and is solid in landings. That being said, it is not an easy board to ride. Being as stiff as it is, and as responsive as it is, if you stop paying attention for just a minute and you'll eat it hard. So, if you're just starting, stay away. But, if you're ready to move on up, this is one sweet ride.

Osprey Packs Stratos 24 Backpack - 1300-1700cu in

Rating for this product: 5 August 31, 2006

I love this pack. I wanted a good technical day pack I could hike and bike with and this thing fit like a glove. It's the perfect size, easy zips, and compresses well. The Air core also keeps me relatively cool. I don't think day packs get better than this one.

Not for the weak

Burton Cartel Snowboard Binding

Burton Cartel Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 5 March 15, 2006

I've taken the Cartel out about three times this season now. So far, I love it. It's responsive, light, totally adjustable, and it looks awesome. That being said, it's completely unforgiving and not for the weak. It's designed to be an advanced binding and it's definitely that. I've had some garbage bindings and some Drake F-60's and so far, the Cartel is my favorite.

Mountain Hardwear Phantom Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Phantom Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 28, 2006

I just got this jacket the other day and so far I love it. I took the dog out in 40F with it and a base layer and I was comfortably warm. I'm amazed at its weight and compressibility and warmth. My only complaint would be that it feels a little fragile being so light, and could be a little more resistant to water. It just doesn't seem like it's made for rough terrain, but I haven't tried it there yet. Other than that, it's a great jacket with awesome warmth to weight ratio.

The North Face Furallure Jacket - Women's

The North Face Furallure Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 February 28, 2006

I bought this jacket for my wife and she loves it. It looks great and keeps her nice and warm. It's a little heavy for backpacking but not too bad, but the water-resistance more than makes up for it. All in all, a great jacket

the perfect fleece

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2006

I love this fleece. I've taken it camping, hiking and it's good in all weather. The Gore-Tex Windstopper keeps you dry and warm, and the pitzips cool you off when it's too hot. Easily the best fleece I've owned, definitely worth the cash.

great google in flat light

Dragon Foil Goggles - Ionized Lens

Dragon Foil Goggles - Ionized Lens

Rating for this product: 4 February 20, 2006

I’ve taken these goggles out a few times since I bought them. In bright conditions, it's too bright, but in flat light, I can see every bump and dip. The only problem is it fits my Giro MX helmet a little funny, although that won't keep me from using these goggles.

Mountain Hardwear PCT 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 February 20, 2006

I’ve taken this tent out a couple times and it’s been great. It’s light, easy to set up, and surprisingly spacious inside. I can sit up and crawl around. For less than 5lb it's a nice little tent. I only gave it 4 stars because it's not freestanding.

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2006

The Arcteryx is a great fitting and very comfortable softshell. It breaks the wind and keeps you dry in light rain/snow. With just this and a base layer, it'll keep you comfortable for most conditions.

GREAT pants

The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's

The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2006

These are really comfortable and fit great. They dry quickly and actually shed light rain. I love the convertible pants, and I like how the shorts inseam is a little bit longer than most other convertible pants.

Mountain Hardwear Tenacity Parka - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Tenacity Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 20, 2006

I took this jacket out in a torrential downpour to test it out, and I didn't get a drop on me. It’s lightweight, keeps the wind out, and keeps you dry like you wouldn't believe. It’s a bit pricey (hence the 4 *'s), but if you like great technical gear, this is the one to get.

Kelty Red Cloud Backpack - 5000-6650 cu in DO NOT USE

Kelty Red Cloud Backpack - 5000-6650 cu in DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 4 February 20, 2006

This pack is sturdy and can pretty much take anything you throw at it. I’ve stuffed it to the brim on two European vacations and on a couple backpacking excursions. It’s a little heavy and the straps slip a little bit under heavy weight (more than 35lb) and it gets a little uncomfortable, but for moderate loads it's a nice starter pack.
