Good for some...not for me

Arc'teryx Silo 30 Backpack - 1648-1831cu in

Arc'teryx Silo 30 Backpack - 1648-1831cu in

Rating for this product: 2 November 9, 2011

I love the aesthetics and even the layout of the pack...I loaded it with everything I would need for a day in the backcountry and put it on and no matter what I tried...could not get it to fit. Could be that I am a 5'9" female with a freakishly long torso...but the pre-molded back panel hit in all the wrong places for me. I really wanted to make it work but the back panel had the internal frame (which on this size pack, I don't really understand) did not make it work. Backcountry was, as always, a wonderful example of what a business should be but the pack was too heavy and too uncomfortable for me. If only they would design a pack for us tall and gangly female skiers...

Isis Metro Gaucho - Women's

July 16, 2009

these are actually a lot thicker (and shinier) than they appear in the picture. They are pretty fitted up top but flair out in the leg...really comfortable.

sizing off from normal Orage

Orage Jayne Fleece Jacket - Women's

Orage Jayne Fleece Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 July 2, 2009

I really like the jacket (and the price). But just to let anyone interested know...it is much different than other Orage products...it is a lot smaller! I am normally a small in this brand and this particular jacket is fairly short and a bit on the snug side but there is no medium and I like it too much to just return, I'll just be a bit of a fat man in a little coat...

Arc'teryx Handler Hooded Jacket - Women's

Arc'teryx Handler Hooded Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 March 6, 2009

So, I am not sure who Arcteryx makes their stuff for because I am always a solid small and on rare occasion medium in Patagonia. I am not abnormally tall (5'8") and not ridiculously skinny (135)...but the small in this hoodie was right below my bellybutton and the medium was just about the same length but was huge around the middle. If I were 8 months pregnant, it would have been a great fit...but alas, I am not. Sad I had to return both sizes since the Jade was pretty.

typical patagonia

Patagonia Aravis Hooded Fleece Jacket - Women's

Patagonia Aravis Hooded Fleece Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 17, 2009

I love this fleece, just got it today. I am a solid small in patagonia with the exception of a few products (morning glory wrap and some of the r series slim fits I require a medium). I got the black and it is much more of a pretty charcoal color which I like...no animal fur will show on it! You can kind of tell that it is not a deep black by the photo though. My only gripe is that the sleeves are sort of on the short side. Other than that, it is a great shirt and Backcountry.com is a great company!

Marmot Reyna Softshell Jacket - Women's

October 31, 2008

it is soft....like really thin fleece. I ordered the small because I am a 4-6 usually but it was super short in the front and the arms (i have a bit of a long torso but still, it was very short) it was also a little lighter weight than I was expecting. I am reordering a size large because the small was soooo small...just some food for thought! It is on sale right now, though!

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 October 26, 2008

It is a very good looking jacket and on everyone else it looks great (I got one for my mom and my mother-in-law and they look great in them). I am pretty tall and slim (i.e not well endowed in the chest region) consequently, the small was too short in the torso, the medium too big in the chest and too short in the arms. Ironically enough I am too much of a monkey to actually pull this jacket off like the rest of women who look so good in it!
