Super light and supportive

Timberland Cadion Mid Gore-Tex XCR Membrane Hiking Boot - Women's

Timberland Cadion Mid Gore-Tex XCR Membrane Hiking Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 7, 2007

I just took these boots out for a 3-day trip of scrambling, rock hopping, and scree skiing. Any other pair of boots this light would have been shredded, but these survived with nary a broken seam. In fact, many of the seams are sealed making them impenetrable. The boot feels a bit like a stiff trail running shoe underfoot with the ankle support of a bigger boot (perfect!). The rubber is super sticky even on slick rocks. You can tell this is a boot Ed Viesturs designed! Be aware that it runs narrow. It might be a tad bit too narrow for me. I ended up ordering a half size bigger than I normally do in hiking boots. I hope Timberland makes this in multiple widths soon.

Comfy, all-purpose pack

Marmot Diva 36 Women's Backpack - 2000cu in

Marmot Diva 36 Women's Backpack - 2000cu in

Rating for this product: 5 February 21, 2007

I've used this pack for long day hikes, lugging climbing gear, and backcountry skiing. It carries skis fairly comfortably (diagonally in the Coombs system), although the part of the daisy chain that rubs against the skis is getting frayed. It fits my small frame well and provides plenty of support for lots of gear. This pack feels heavier compared to other daypacks of a similar size, but that's the compromise to be made for the bombproof material and suspension system of this pack. The good thing is the belt and suspension system can be taken out of the pack to make it lighter if need be.

Sumptuous, no-stink shirt

Icebreaker Superfine Tech T - Women's

Icebreaker Superfine Tech T - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 August 25, 2006

The fabric doesn't wick as well as a synthetic mesh, and is a bit heavier, but it feels so much smoother and a lot less clammy than a synthetic. It's perfect for slightly cooler weather since it holds warmth better than a synthetic. It also looks like a cotton shirt, so you can wear it out in public, which makes it great for traveling. Like everyone else says about merino wool, it doesn't hold any smells so you can go days without washing it.

Cute, not so comfy

Patagonia Active Boy Short - Women's

Patagonia Active Boy Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 August 25, 2006

Active should not be in the name of these undies. Like the other reviewers said, once you start to move, the undies ride up uncomfortably. The legs need to be a bit longer to hold the shorts down.
