The Stoic has larger squares. It's more of the "ripstop" look that I have on some OR and TNF puffy products. The original BC event fabric looked more cohesive. The Stoic feels more flimsy and feels lower quality. I am only making observations, not passing judgement.

I'm 5'11 195, with square shoulders. The XL works great for me and leaves enough room to layer under. The XL also makes up for the coats's natural shortness. The long sleeves at not as much of an issue on this product as opposed to other BC.com gear due to the velcro wrist closures.

Hummm. Alpine ski boots add considerably to the weight. I'm not sure what you mean by hike in. Perhaps invest in a different setup, snowshoes, AT, CC.
I typically just connect the powerstraps together and sling them over the top of my pack.
This is a lightweight pack, I guess it will depend on how far your hike in is?

I have my probe, Deploy 7 shovel, skins, a layer, some food, and a water bottle and there is almost NO room left at all. However, i am not going bigger cause the more room I have the more crap I bring!

These skis are light weight and still real sturdy. For someone your size, I'd steer you towards the 175cm as it'll be easy to re-learn on and will still ski great as your skills and confidence ramp up. Great choice!I agree. - Mike

The p4's are quite a bit heavier then the goats and softer, also they don't hold an edge as well on groomers IMO, About half the people i know who demoed p4's did not like them, but i never heard anyone who did not LOVE the goats, IMO stick with the goats or look at the 4frnt vct or line prophet 100 for similar skis to the goats.I happen to feel that the P4's are stiffer than the Goats throughout the middle yet a tad soft on the tip and tail - mk

It's 800 fill, so it'll pack quite small. It might be a little warm for ski touring, depending on the temps, plus it's not waterproof.I'm thinking that I will pack this in a compression sack until I reach the top. I sweat so much when I skin that I freeze when I stop. This thing will be the extra insulation I need to help keep me warm. - mike

From Wild Snow.com"If you've done much backcountry skiing, the first difference you'll notice about using Trekkers is the weight. A conventional alpine ski setup, combined with the Trekker, can yank at your feet like a torture of the Inquisition. I calculated one rig, using my heavy alpine skis, at over fourteen pounds per foot!"

You question made me curious if I was washing mine correctly, sure enough I've been doing it exactly as recommended...Directly from the smartwool website:For socks you can machine wash using cool or warm water and tumble dry low. Turn inside out, do not use bleach, do not iron and do not dry clean. We do not recommend using fabric softener because it coats the wool fibers reducing their ability to breathe with your body. Bottom Line = Normal Care

Well, you'd better be really comfortable with each other. The tent is only three and a half feet wide at its widest point, 2'2" at the foot (the other arch pole) and nine feet long. I'd advise making that footprint on the floor with masking tape or something and see how it looks and whether you can fit in it, then decide. To put it in perspective, 18 + sq.ft. floor area is barely enough room for one person let alone two! It brings a smile to my face just thinking about this!Put your GF on top and you'll be fine!!!

Insulation is measured in grams on many coats. "Fill" for down. This will block the wind but you will need to order it big enough to get some underarmor and perhaps another long sleeve under it. Also, this is not a "shell" you way want a shell for waterproofness.

This concurs with similar conclusions made by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Department of Health and Human Services, both of which determined that reduction in saturated fat consumption would positively affect health and reduce the prevalence of heart disease. My advice...only mount to true center if you want to ski switch. If you ski forward all the time, or ski a lot of powder its better to mount to boot center. Some people also like to mount thier skis forward to make them ski shorter. If you are using this just as (or mostly as) a touring setup, get them mounted back for the steep and deep. Unless you are way filppy spinny.

I would suggest a longer length. Based on your size, you should be skiing at least the 184. If your skiing a lot of powder I would really recomend the 190 as it will really give you the edge with floatation. This ski is pretty stiff and straight, so if you are concerned about your conditioning you might want to look at something a bit softer with more sidecut. Other skis I think you should consider are the K2 Coomba or Volkl Gotama. If you're nervous about going to long the 181 Coomba would be a good choice. Racers turn, you need a ski that will turn more imo

if your lookin for a ski you'll be in the park with mainly, no disrespect to Fischer, there are better options. Check out the Line Chronic, K2 Public Enemy, Dynastar Trouble Maker and Salomon Foil. Depending upon how you ski, and your body type, make sure you also get some nice bindings. Ive used salomon ti's on all my skis, you dont want some bulky binding tiring you out by mid day.Tweak = I find these skis awesome for everything. I spend most of my time in the pow and when that's gone I rip the entire Mt. These skis hold up well on everything. I'm not afraid to take these in the park either although I don't do that now cause I have them mounted with NX21 Naxo Alpine touring bindings. Touring, All Mt ripping, jibs, park..they do it all well.

Yeah, at 8.5 feet it is a little shorter then average but it will get the job done fine.8.5 feet of snow equates to many tons of snow that will have to be removed in order to find the victim. Any deeper of a burial and the chances are very slim you could even dig them out in time.
