OR quality

Outdoor Research Aspect Softshell Pant - Men's

Outdoor Research Aspect Softshell Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 8, 2012

As I expected with any OR product, these are top notch quality. The zippers for the integrated gaiters are kind of awkward, but not a huge deal. This has just enough pockets and vents in easy to reach places. The material is soft, stretchy and thick enough for dealing with winter conditions. These would be a little too warm for late spring/early summer adventures though.

Comfy

Arc'teryx Phase SV Boot Cut Bottom - Men's

Arc'teryx Phase SV Boot Cut Bottom - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 8, 2012

These are everything you want in a baselayer. They are stretchy, very warm, and wick sweat away like it's going out of style. The best part is that they regulate body temperature to keep you from sweating in a high range of temperatures and activity levels so they don't even have to wick that much. The fit is trim for sure. I normally wear 36-37 inch pants but these I bought in an XL.

Not perfect, but adequate

Brunton Echo Zoom Monocular 10-30x21

Brunton Echo Zoom Monocular 10-30x21

Rating for this product: 3 February 8, 2012

This monocular is super lightweight, extremely small, packable and easy to use. On the other hand the visual clarity just doesn't compare to a good set of binoculars. If you're really counting the ounces this is the way to go though.

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Sleeping Pad

December 20, 2011

Just don't sleep directly on the wood (put down a groundsheet of tyvek) and you'll be fine. The shelters have pretty worn floors, there aren't a lot of splinters.

Another quality product

Mammut Tweak Beanie

Mammut Tweak Beanie

Rating for this product: 4 December 16, 2011

This is a pretty generic beanie with a fleece lining around the crown. Comfy and a close knit fit. Runs snug so if you have a huge head (larger than 7 3/4) you might want to avoid this.

Great jacket

Arc'teryx Gamma MX Hooded Softshell Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Gamma MX Hooded Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 16, 2011

As usual Arc'teryx has fantastic fit and finish. This jacket has four chest pockets + the one small arm pocket. I'm 6'4" 235 and this jacket fits me great in a Large. Just so you know, the blue has deep purple trim in the zipper and on the breast chest pocket.

Sea To Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack

Sea To Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack

Rating for this product: 4 December 16, 2011

A very straightforward and well built compression sack. For reference I bought a small and it's a tight fit to get my down 15F sleeping bag in it.

Asolo Power Matic 200 GV Boot - Men's

Asolo Power Matic 200 GV Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 14, 2011

I've been hiking and snowshoeing on some pretty varied terrain with these. They're great for mild scrambling, stiff enough to keep rocks from hurting your feet and are even good with strap-on crampons (not stiff enough for good front pointing though).

Good fit

Black Diamond Punisher Glove

Black Diamond Punisher Glove

Rating for this product: 4 December 1, 2011

These have a great comfy fit. More agile than double gloves and just as comfy with a nice fleece interior. The closure mechanism works fine, but it bugs me that the tab doesn't perfectly fit over the velcro. Someone measured it off a bit.

BTW these have a nose wipe section on the outside of the thumb. Handy!

Black Diamond Sabretooth Pro Crampon

November 27, 2011

No, you'll want to use the BD Contact crampons. Most snowboard boots do not have the bails to use Sabretooths.
