great tent for dry climates

and climbing or hiking light and high. We successfully used in the winter as well, in stuations where we did not expect significant snowfall. Fits two people who don't mind laying close together. Don't plan on keeping too much gear inside. It is so lightweight that sometimes even when solo I bring this tent for added comfort rather than a bivy. For two people it is a no brainer.

Great jacket

Mountain Hardwear Torch Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Torch Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 2, 2009

the only drawback is that the hood is a tiny bit too small to fit a climbing helmet (Petzl Ecrin). If the helmet ft, I would give it 5 stars. Still one of my favorite jackets, especially for overall, slim fit - some other jackets tend to be too big around my trunk. Normally I wear MH medium, but this one is great in large.

Great boots

Scarpa Denali TT Alpine Touring Boot

Scarpa Denali TT Alpine Touring Boot

Rating for this product: 5 April 23, 2009

great ski performance while still comfortable for walking/climbing. Most recently I have spent 16 hours in them straight. They are definitely wider than Garmont however still narrow around my ankles - thus they needed some boot fitting that helped but my let ankle still gets a little bruised. The Intuition liners are great, I had lace ups before and the Intuitions are warmer and easier to deal with.

I used Superfeet to fill up the volume, the toe box still has a bit more volume upwards (not sideways) but on the other hand a little bit of room keeps my toes warm.

Sizewise, my US street is 10, Salomon X-Waves Mondo 27 and the Scarpas are Mondo 27.5 (and the Scarpas seem to fit better than the Salomons!!).

Great technical crampons

CAMP USA Vector Nanotech Crampon

CAMP USA Vector Nanotech Crampon

Rating for this product: 5 March 25, 2009

I have the non-Nanotech version, used them for ice climbing for about three years now and they are great in every aspect. Love the ability to convert between dual and monopoint. They also compact small for transport.

Absolutely awesome

Petzl Quark Ice Axe

Petzl Quark Ice Axe

Rating for this product: 5 February 3, 2009

I have old Pulsars. I just spent a weekend climbing with friend's Quarks and wow, what a difference!! Leashless, the pinky rest works great, the picks go in on the first swing and are easy to remove. Vertical ice all of a sudden felt lot less intimidating. I am shopping for a pair now...

Looks great but...

Patagonia Micro Puff Hooded Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Micro Puff Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 26, 2009

the fit is sooo off - I am 5'9, 150lb and after reading some reviews got size small - when it arrived, it was still quite roomy around my body but too tight around my shoulders and sleeves were a little short. I am very very worried that if I sized up to medium, the fit would be way too roomy around my trunk... it is a shame because otherwise it looks like a great, warm, packable jacket and I really liked the hood. I know you are supposed to wear this with layers but with such a roomy fit I would need to have so many layers on that I would probably not need a warm jacket anymore... I think I will complain to Patagucci that they need to design something with an athletic fit.

Runs small

Pearl Izumi Slice Full-Zip Bike Jersey - Men's

Pearl Izumi Slice Full-Zip Bike Jersey - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

Well wicking jersey. I think it runs small, I normally wear medium and had to get this one in Large and still it is bit tight around shoulders. The full zip is awesome.
