Great for the Right Use

KEEN Cimarron Water Shoe - Men's

KEEN Cimarron Water Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 16, 2009

I purchased these for canoe trips and kayak trips and would highly recommend them for the right situations. I've used them on two trips so far, one with more satisfaction than the other. The lacing system is easy to use, tightens around your whole foot well and stays all day. The interior of the shoes are comfortable, tread is good. They keep out rocks, even small pebbles pretty well and I highly recommend them if this is what you're concerned about. I've also hiked in them after being in the water all day and have no complaints at all. A great all around shoe. Here's what I don't recommend them for - sandy trips. I wore them on a week long kayak outing in the Apostle Islands. I hadn't been there before so I didn't know what to expect, but nearly all our campsites were around sandy beaches (I was picturing little sand, more rocks and dirt or rock landings). Where theses shoes are not so great is that when you get sand in them, you can't get it out without taking the shoes off. Keen sandals would have been better on this trip. While I wouldn't recommend for water outings in sandy areas, if you use these for other water trips you'll be very happy from my experience.

Fantastic

Icebreaker BodyFit260 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker BodyFit260 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

I have several icebreaker shirts (t-shirts, sweaters, zip necks, etc.), but this was the first long sleeve tee I bought and I couldn't be happier. I like it so much I had to buy another and now they are nearly all I wear around the house and out about doing stuff. So comfortable. Perfect weight for the winter months. Right on for running in cool weather. Sleeve length is great (I wear a 16 35 dress shirt, so I need long arms and the XL is perfect). Highly recommend it if you can afford it.

MSR Packtowl UltraLite

MSR Packtowl UltraLite

Unbelievably small and absorbent. I bought the large towel, and it's plenty big enough to completely dry off after a shower. This material is really incredibly absorbent. It works great for wiping down the tent in the morning to get it dry before packing it up. You just wring out the towel and keep using it. Washes with other laundry. Great product. Bought a small one to use as a wash cloth as well.

Icebreaker Shirts

Icebreaker SuperFine190 Mako Zip T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker SuperFine190 Mako Zip T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 29, 2008

I have several icebreaker shirts and I can't say enough about them. They are definitely expensive, but so far in my opinion, well worth the price. I've taken the 190 zip tee, 340 zip sweater and ultrafine tees on several campouts this spring. I've worn them two to three days in a row, sweated in them, and they simply don't smell like all the synthetics. You would never know they are wool unless you looked at the tags. I run in tees all the time when I travel on business, and it's such a pleasure not to have to wash out my shirts after every run or smell up the hotel room or my suitcase on the trip back home. I'm a believer.

Icebreaker 320

Icebreaker LTD320 Coronet Sport Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker LTD320 Coronet Sport Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 29, 2008

This is one of the most versatile sweaters you will ever buy. I just got back from a long weekend in San Fran and I wore this thing nearly every day. It worked for bike riding in the early morning cold, walking around town in the rain, and going out to dinner at night - and it never smells from sweat. I own two of these and can't recommend them enought. They are very pricey, but well worth the $$. I really think owning a 320 weight long sleeve, 190 weight long sleeve and a couple ultra light tees give you every combination of layering you need for camping in three seasons.

Great Bag

Western Mountaineering MegaLite Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down

Western Mountaineering MegaLite Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 April 28, 2008

Only used it once so far, but my initial impression is very good. The campout I took it on was just a weekend out with temperatures in the low 40's to upper 30's at night. The bag was very comfortable. I specifically like the design and construction of the drawstring and closure around your face. It is easy, efficient, doesn't get Velcro up against you, and is easy to find at night in the dark. The dual full-length zipper is great to help regulate temperatures at both ends - I wouldn't buy a warmer weather bag without one. I also like the storage bag it comes with so you don't have to store it in the stuff sack, that way the down maintains its loft better. Overall, excellent.
