Perfect solo tent

Sierra Designs Baku Tent 1-Person 3-Season

Sierra Designs Baku Tent 1-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 June 20, 2007

I looked long and hard at solo tents and finally chose the Baku. This tent has the best of both worlds combining single and double wall features. I was tired of fumbling with a separate fly, this tent is super easy to pitch and keeps the inside dry in the rain. The vestibule gives you a place to stash your gear and get in/out via the opposite door without crawling all over your stuff. The side with the vestibule is entirely mesh which takes away from that cooped up feeling if your stuck inside due to weather. The ventilation is great and somewhat misrepresented in the listing here. In addition to the one mesh wall there is also a vent at either end of the tent and the top portion of the second door. I'm 5'11" and have a few inches of wiggle room at my head/toe. I can sit up in the tent as well. The Baku also packs down small and is very light. The only thing that is tricky would be getting your pad in the side doors. I use a Big Agnes inflatable and have to wriggle it in there. All in all, I would recommend this tent to anyone. The only issue might be if you are extremely tall but then you might have problems with most solo tents.

Great compression sack, not a leak. Solid construction. I got one size up and use it as a a waterproof bag to hang my food at camp once my sleeping bag is unpacked.

All you could ask from a bag

Big Agnes Yampa Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Down

Big Agnes Yampa Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 September 11, 2006

I already had a Big Agnes REM Air Core pad and decided to go with their bags as well. Used this for 2 weekend trips in the Indian Peaks and the system performed flawlessly. I am a warm sleeper, so my only caution would be to those who are chilly, a slight draft does come into this one as it is lacking a hood. For me though, my temp. was regulated well and the extra room in this bag was a big plus. Packs down well and light enough for my purposes. I would highly recommend!!!

Works good, one flaw

CamelBak Thermal Control Kit

CamelBak Thermal Control Kit

Rating for this product: 3 March 10, 2006

Does what it should, my water didn't freeze up, also keeps the first gulp nice and cool in the summer. My only gripe is that the valve cap is so big, it takes me forever to force it through on 2 of my packs. Makes it difficult to easily move my bladder from pack to pack.

I bought my first pair of Oakley’s 14 years ago and wouldn't even consider anything else. Superior optics, superior comfort and great style. These are perhaps the best pair yet.

Good pack

The North Face Borealis Backpack - 1850cu in

The North Face Borealis Backpack - 1850cu in

Rating for this product: 3 June 20, 2005

Bought this for my girlfriend for school. It is very roomy and comfortable. It has held up good so far lugging all those heavy books around. One of the side water bottle pockets had the stitching come undone already (a month old) but I am assuming it was just a defect and the warranty will take care of it. This is the fourth North Face pack I have purchased, and that is the only problem I have had w/ any of them.

Am I really camping? This pad rivals my bed, definitely more comfortable than some hotel beds. Lightweight and packs down small, what more could you want?

great little stove

MSR Pocket Rocket Stove

MSR Pocket Rocket Stove

Rating for this product: 5 June 20, 2005

Have only used it a few times but have been pleased with the performance. It is small, lightweight and fires up hot. I could see a little issue with really windy conditions, but have not come across that problem yet. I even plan on taking it tailgating for Eagles games as a backup or extra stove just to heat up a little chili.

Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 20, 2005

This jacket packs down small to store, enabling you to take it almost anywhere unnoticed. I have used it in heavy rain and wind, and have stayed dry. I have a major problem staying cool in jackets like this, as I tend to heat up easily but this jacket breathes well enough to keep me relatively comfortable.

What can't you use this for? Camping, around the house, working on the car. This is by far one of the most useful and practical pieces of gear I have bought in my entire life. My buddies all break my stones about it, but then they want to borrow it.

Great tent

Sierra Designs Reverse Combi- 2-Person 3-Season Tent

Sierra Designs Reverse Combi- 2-Person 3-Season Tent

Rating for this product: 5 May 24, 2005

I have used this twice and twice it's rained on me. I was bone dry, and had no condensation buildup. More than enough room for two, especially with the dual vestibules, which are quite roomy, but very easy for one person to handle. It's a nice bonus that it came with the footprint, attic, and coffee slings. It was a little awkward getting in and out with the vestibule down. Overall, I'm very happy.
