I would highly recommend this pack in the SL . It is made for your body type and with the Aircomfort back panel will reduce perspiration by 20% . The ACT trail SL is also a great pack from Deuter. But for a day pack I prefer the Futura fit.

ash,
This boot is definately waterproof has goretex . Depending on how big of a pack you would be using these may be suitable ..these are hiking boots and are considered a mid duty hiking boot. I think you may want to consider the Hunza which is alos a Scarpa boot has a stiffer midsole and fits a wider foot . http://www.backcountry.com/scarpa-hunza-gtx-boot-womens

I bet the T2's are the closest thing to what you been skiing in the T1, I think it wuld be a perfect blend betwee control and the weight you desire for the backcountry. Tricky on the shell size though as it ha chenged from what you have. I am a size 11.0..I take a 27.5-28 with ample room. The next shell up is the 28.5-29 . if you border line 11.5 I would go with he 28 shell.

Jeff.. you know its all personal preference. these boots do only have a 100 flex so you need to make the call . They definately will not fit in alpine bindings they must go into an AT binding. If you looking for a resort ripper with Dynafit fitting try the Skookum or Mobe .. skookum being a good blend of both worlds. If your going to use a Dynafit binding for the resort as well as Bckcountry I would say this would be good. If you trying to drive a ski that is more than 120 underfoot the maestrell could be a bit sqirlley for you.

Chris the Techno is a straight lasted shoe( meaning no asymetry and no downturn) so you will get a different fit . So I would say that with this shoe you may want to size down of of your Techno size maybe a 1/2 size. They will stretch more than the Techno over time and this is an all day performance shoe so you want them snug.

Eddy,
I cn speak for Scarpa. The Shaka is the best bet for her volume issues . The liners are intuition so they can be custom molded to her. We can get some extra volume by heating the liners and wearing a thick sock and craning the buckles down during the molding process. Will be tight when we are doing this but in the end when she has her everyday ski sock on should make it happen.

The Mobe is a good choice has a 104 last so good for your wide forefoot. and the intuition heat moldebale liners will accomodate your skinny heel and pretty much all of your foot . I would make sure you get these custom molded at a good Outdoor shop or Ski shop that specializes in boot fitting ..its worth the $

Fred I feel the F1 would be your best option as far as width. Course I am the rep but have tried them all on as well an I could honestly say this would be the widest of the bunch. The liners are heat moldable so you could get some width by molding these with a large sock then using a thinner sock to ski in. These are made to have a performance fit so a larger size may help but would be a bit loopy for a race boot.

John,
This is an addtional mounting kit. So if you have a pair of NTN bindings already ..you can buy this kit ( instead of another whole set of bindings) to mount another pair of skis. The Binding Chasis ( main part of binding) Has two screws it slides off and you can slide it on to your other pair of boards ..pretty cool and cost saving .

If your looking at other models of Scarpa we do have different lasts for different models.

This Base wash is best for next to skin layers. I would not use on outer layers like your cycling Jacket.. as it promotes wicking. For your cycling jacket use tech wash. But for your shorts, shirts , socks it works awesome and get the stink out.

So this would be a good do it all boot for you. If you do decide you want to tele you will have to buy into the NTN system ..which rocks and is getting better every year. I have used with Dynafit and it also works well, but hard to Tele on Dynafit bindings ... there is no resistance/ compression spring when in walk mode so it make it very difficult to Tele .. you would be over the handlebars quite a bit. Hope this helps.. there is also a $100 mail in rebate if you buy a Scarpa boot with an NTN binding but its for this season only.

So the F3 has a bellows in the front much like a tele boot. That is why it is not compatible with any other AT binding other than Dynafit. The F3 was modeled after our famous racing boot the F1 but is designed to ski downhill better. The F3 is a super efficient touring boot designed for lightweight efficient touring . We have a bunch of speed weenies/ Long Walkers around here in Crested Butte that love this boot. The Spirit 3 however will be bit stiffer for the downhill it wont offer the mobility that the F3 does but is a great comprimise between uphill and downhill performance. Hope this helps.

We do not recommend that you use this boot with a Silveretta Binding or anything that has a heel attchement that stays on the boot while walking . Reason being that these boots have bellows and when the boots flex in walk mode they could potentially release. Dynafit and G3 bindings do not have a fixed heel when walking.

So the 26.5 and 27 are the same shell size just diffrent liners. So with you current boots take out the liner place you foot in the shell and slide it all the way forward till your toes are touchig in the front. If you have 3/4 of an inch of space between your heel and shell that is what we call a comfort fit and any more you should go down a shell size. With a skinny foot I would look to have the spacing about a 1/2 inch between heel and shell.. a little less is ok but not too much or your loosing toe nails. Keep in mind that same rule applies with Scarpa if you go to the 25.5 it share the same outer shell as the 26.. again just diffrent sized liners. I would measure your t-race that is the closest you will get to accurate sizing on T1. Hope this helps

Your floor lenght is 90" you should be good. The walls are near vertical and thats what I think your looking for. The floor and fly are very waterproof and the fly is quite durable. It is an ultrlight tent though with Ultralight materials so it does require some tender loving care. If you not worried so much about weight want some more long term durability the Big Agnes Gore Pass is an awesome tent as well.

Crampons are tricky with any boot. Since the TX has bellows like a Tele Boot it is wider around the toe area. Every crampon boot combo i have worked with needs some bending of the bails. I would not use a rigid crampon with these as they have bellows and am sure you know that. I like the Camp super light aluminum crampons they seem to cross over to a variety of boots that I have.

But I think you could get yourself a great deal on T-race right now and the walk mode will be available seperately for $60 and you can retrofit next season. One thing I would also add is that the current Race has a wrap style liner , new ones will have a tounged liner. The wrap style will be way better on your navicular problems( no seams over the forefoot). Hope this helps

So those liners are custom moldable with heat. All the liners are molded to the shells in th factory .. usually they indent on the heel to create a pocket. So my fisrt thought is that you use these a lot and two seasons you will see some pack out and the heat created from use and long term summer storage may have tweaked the liners a bit. Also feet change. So what I would do is wash your liners first ! Base wash from Nikwax gets the stink out ! Then bring them to someone that can heat mold your liners for you and get them re-molded to your feet. This should fix your problem and keep you trucking comfortably.

My personal experience with ‘single leather’ mtn boots above 6km is not advisable. If you are ‘fast and light’ you can get away with it in the warmer months/regions, and with the use of liner socks and a vapor barrier. But even then if you get stopped or slowed due to issues you are going to suffer. And in -30 forget keeping your toes if you are forced to spend a night in your boots.
I would bump it up to the Phantom 6k, and the advantage of the removable (hence dryable) liner… and extra warmth. These boots still WAY out perform regular plastic double boots for walking and tech climbing.

These gel tube are concentrated can be used in a machine just use less. Make sure your using Base wash just for undergarmets and wicking layers not outer shells tech wash is the best for that.

David this stove will work with all EPI threaded canisters , MSR, Snowpeak, Jetboil, primus. I would suggest that you buy from Backountry as you will recieve the support from them. Like this information . Ebay is not going to give that to you. These guys at BC are great you should support them. I don't work for them , but a satisfied customer.

Charmoz does have a more rigid sole but smears just fine. The upper is not as rigid , and has flex zones in the ankle area. You alos realy like the weight , its really light for the type of boot.

Cassie,
This would be a close fit to the Nitro that you had. I would also suggest the Scarpa Zen if Goretex is not a concern.

Igor. I would agree and disagree with Vern. All compressed cartride canisters loose efficency in colder temps because the rely on outside ambient heat to create the Chemical reaction inside the fuel canister. If you traveling abroad you have no choice but to use a canister stove as Airlines will not let you take Liquid fuel stoves on the plane. Liuid fuel stoves leave residual fuel in the line where compressed fuel stoves do not. the trick to the cartridge stove is to keep the canister warm in a jacket or sleeping bag before use and when in use make sure they are nsulated from the ground with a foam pad or such. The PCS have been on the top of everest K2 and many more. Another option is the jetboil Helios which inverts the canister which helps with this issue. Hope this helps.

The natural organic even with benzoic Acid should work fine without damagig the Nylon. Its the deet that you need to be concerned with as it melts nylon. The only thing with oil base repellents as they may collect dirt over time and gunk up the zipper , if you clean your tent everyonce in awhile you should be good to go.

I have about a b width foot which is medium to narrow. I think the Scarpas would be a good fit for you foot type. Depending on what your looking for my Picks SLM3 for heavy duty backpacking, Mustang GTX or Kalash Gtx for a more mid duty lightwieght backpacking boot.

Yes it can , but you will definately need to take the neoprene cozy off of the pot ( it will melt if flames get to it) the flux ring is durable enough for sure.

The sleeve is only mean for two utensils, howver if yoy have the Frypan it will fit underneath the plate on the bottom. You just need to center it in the middle of the fluxring and snap on the plate.

Ok I will do the best to explain this. Sounds like you figured out the two clips on the front, so the cord lock slides through the attachment point ( loop) on the tent this will allow you to adjust the hieght of the gear loft by sliding the cord lock back and forth. Hope this helped.

Liza the new T2x is definately going to be stiffer than the previous model. If your a hair smaller than a 22.5 keep in mind that you will jump a whole shell size down (21.5-22 are the same shell). this may be too small for you, you want to have 1/2 to 3/4 inch space between your heel and the back of the shell when the liners are out, toes touching the front of the shell.

We also make a ski called the aviatrix for women which is the same shape as the baron but comes in smaller lenghts, you may also like the Viva Ski. Its a bit wider so you wil have better float in the powder. My wife is around the same height and weight and skis on a 166.

They work in alpine bindings, but you should probably get alpine boots if you're just skiing alpine. AT stands for Alpine Touring, which means that the heel detaches so you can hike up, and the boots in turn sacrifice some of their stiffness to be lighter and easier to hike in. If you're not going to be hiking, get alpine boots. You may also want to look at the Domina from Scarpa this has all the attributes of an alpine boots IE : Din compatible sole. But is comfortable and has a walk mode for touring , and just makes the boot comfortable all around

I do not believe this is fritschi, naxo, duke compatible (David just cross checked with the Scarpa website - only compatible with Dynafit TLT bindings.)This is correct all of the Scarpa Bellow style AT boots will not work with anything but dynafit as they can back flex and pop out of the heel.

Either one would be a good choice but I'd go with the Kailash because of the Gore-Tex lining. It's a better boot for it's waterproof qualities.

Hello I have some experience with this tent. I would say you may be tight with 7 kids and you may not be sleeping to well with everyone in the same tent. You may want to try 2 pine Island 4 tents this will get you around the weight you need and you can split the load up and make your older childern sherpa the load.
