I prefer down to all other insulating materials but down jackets don't look that durable. I spend a lot of time "bushing" and don't want to buy a jacket that is going to rip easily. Anyone have any testimonials regarding this jacket's strength. I have an old Seattle Quilt Co. Down vest that is tough as nails so if anyone is familiar with what I am talking about, how does it compare?

MSR Flex Skillet

Before I begin, I love this pan for what I do. It is incredibly light and the handle either folds or pops right off, which is convenient for packing this thing in tight places. While it is lightweight it is considerably strong. The nonstick is in fact nonstick! It is a novel idea when a company's product actually does what the company says it does. However, as much as love my pan, anyone looking to purchase this needs to be aware that it does not distribute heat like cast iron. This should be a no brainer, but it isn't for some. It is thin and if you are not heating it right it will focus all the heat into the center. It does not have heat rings like the GSI frying pan: bare bottom pan. And because it is aluminum, anodized or not, if you get this thing to hot it will start sagging where the most heat is. this can result in the nonstick coming off or a lopsided pan. Things to consider. For the serious backpacker who is looking for a frying pan, this is your product: super light, durable, MSR! I am sold on MSR products, whoever does their quality assurance is my hero.

Optimus Crux Stove with Terra Weekend HE Cook Set

I did a lot of research before purchasing this cook set/stove and one reason I almost didn't purchase it was the lack of written reviews. So here is what I have to say: amazing. As an avid back country hunter I needed something that could boil water fast at high altitudes. My first test run with this was at 8900 feet elevation. I boiled the .95 L under three minutes. Fast! the reason I didn't go with a jet boil is that I sometimes pack eggs and pancake mix for longer treks and need a frying pan. The versatility of this stove cannot be matched. Also, the way the stove folds: BRILLIANT! Why did it take someone so long to develop this? I prefer the larger burners for heat distribution reasons, but have always disliked how awkward they are to pack. Because the stove folds away under an 8 oz fuel canister it is 10 times easier to consolidate my cooking gear. Very well though out design and if this one breaks I will purchase another one. However, I am confident it wont break. I will add photos later.
