So light

Dynafit TLT 5 Mountain TF-X Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Dynafit TLT 5 Mountain TF-X Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2012

So very light. Uphill mobility is a dream, and tongue insert allows downhill power, drives big skis. Frontpoints like a high top Koflach, but still best of all ski boots. Maybe a bit colder than other boots, but fine to minus 10 this year (seems like the "cold boot" thread is a bit hyped). Ankle and heel very very happy now.

La Sportiva RT Tech Binding

La Sportiva RT Tech Binding

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2012

Light and secure, with apparent true DIN. No prerelease to date. Easier entry and exit than 2010 Verticals. Very light when matched with Hi5 (orgasmic actually). Get the adjuster plate, worth it.

Good Gawd

La Sportiva Hi5 Alpine Touring Ski

La Sportiva Hi5 Alpine Touring Ski

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2012

So floaty and yet so quick and edge secure. Super awesome. The rocker sets them on plane perfectly, and quickly; with full camber underfoot they give real security on hard alpine neve, a real surprise. Also, super quick initiation and slalom sidecut. And so light on the uphill. 188 skis like 175cm. Perfect float for any day with new, and secure for sure in any couloir you can manage. The best ski ever in my 40th year on snow. Hi5!

Best slog tool I've used

CAMP USA Corsa Nanotech Ice Axe

CAMP USA Corsa Nanotech Ice Axe

Rating for this product: 5 September 10, 2011

Very durable over three years of heavy use in Alaska. Light and utilitarian, it has never given me a worry. Shaft won't bend with t-trenches or crevasse haul, and ferrule penetrates well for boot/axe. No trouble with rivets that join the steel to alloy. Only fair at AI3 or above, but you'd be using paired tools in that setting anyway. Recommend this axe, it is light light light.
