I love being outdoors. It does not matter what I may be doing, as long as I am outside. Getting away from the humdrum of daily life and spending time in fresh air is incredibly important to me.

Other than that, I moonlight as a gearhead for Backcountry.com and am pretty stoked to be doing it.

Immersion Research X Jacket - Men's

Immersion Research X Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 18, 2012

I am just getting into whitewater kayaking, and one of my friend's recommended this top to me. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. This is an awesome top that keeps you real nice and dry. It is not restrictive in the slightest. I am 5'10 165 and the L works out real well. At first the gaskets were quite tight, but they seem to be loosening up.

Marmot Hydrogen Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 May 17, 2012

This is a fantastic bag, the 850 fill down keeps you warm, but is very lightweight. I'm 5'9.5'' 165lbs and the reg works out really well. There is enough room to sleep on your side, but it is nice and snug.

Outdoor Technology DJ Slims - Wireless Bluetooth DJ Headphones

Outdoor Technology DJ Slims - Wireless Bluetooth DJ Headphones

Rating for this product: 5 April 22, 2012

If you hate getting tangled up in your headphone cords buy these ones. The sound quality is surprisingly good, especially considering there is no hard connection between headphone and music device. Note that the most recent version of bluetooth will provide the best sound quality. Other than that, they are simple to use, comfortable, and sleek.

Moment PB&J Ski

Moment PB&J Ski

Rating for this product: 5 April 22, 2012

Simply put. These are wonderful skis. They are incredibly lightweight and especially maneuverable due to the early rise tip and tail. However, the early rise isn't very pronounced which is nice, because it does not sacrifice much effective edge length. Which saves stability at speed. Although they are lightweight, this does not stop them from ripping through crud, groomers and pow. It is surprising how stable they are at speed. These aren't a ski I would ski on a really deep day, but for any other day they fit the bill. Finally, they are super poppy when you want to dip off the groomers and hit the park.

Good bindings

4FRNT Skis Night Of The Living Deadbolt 15 Ski Binding

4FRNT Skis Night Of The Living Deadbolt 15 Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 April 22, 2012

This is a solid lightweight/high performance binding. The 5-15 DIN rating caters to a very wide range of skier types. Pre-releases are a thing of the past with this binding, but it will let you go when needed. However, the best part about these things is how easy it is to step in and out of these things. Much easier than the equivalent look/rossignol PX/FKS bindings. I've been on them for about 2 months and am completely satisfied up to this point with this binding.

Real Tall

Discrete King Doyonator Beanie

Discrete King Doyonator Beanie

Rating for this product: 4 April 16, 2012

This is a really comfortable beanie and real warm. However, I did not realize that it would be this tall. In comparison to the Coal Frena beanie the King Doyonater is about 6 inches taller. So if you like that steeze, stop thinking and go for it!

Super comfy beanie! It's not the tallest beanie out there, but if you don't like folding your beanie over this is the beanie for you.

Fantastic sock!

SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Micro Sock

SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Micro Sock

Rating for this product: 5 April 16, 2012

This is an incredibly comfortable and breathable sock! You can wear it all day and not worry about getting that god forsaken sweaty foot feeling. The only thing I would change with them would be to make them a little shorter, but other than that they are SAWEET!

4FRNT Skis MSP Ski

4FRNT Skis MSP Ski

Rating for this product: 5 March 29, 2012

This is a fantastic ski if you're looking for an everyday ski to nom groomers, crud, and a bit of pow. I wouldn't take this ski up on a real deep day, but for everything else its wonderful. This ski is stiff. More so than the Line Prophet 100's and traditional camber gives you wonderful control at speed. However, when you want to duck off into the park and take a few laps there, its surprisingly poppy and a lot of fun.

Wonderful goggle

Smith I/O Interchangeable Optics Spherical Series Goggles

Smith I/O Interchangeable Optics Spherical Series Goggles

Rating for this product: 5 October 23, 2011

The IO's are an awesome goggle! If you want a goggle that doesn't fog(if treated properly) and has amazing optics, go with these. I have tried on a bunch of other goggles(the nicest being the Oakley Airbrake) and these are still hands down my first choice. Other brands are a little too bulky and the interchange system for the lenses are always a bit strange. These suckers are super lightweight, low profile, and easy to use.

One of the best out there.

Smith Vantage Helmet

Smith Vantage Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 October 23, 2011

This helmet is super comfortable, warm, protective and a myriad of other adjectives that are synonymous to awesome. I've taken a few fairly large impacts with this helmet on and even though it is rated for 1 strike, the helmet is still holding up(no cracks in foam lining). I imagine you'd have to crash real hard to break this sucker. Lastly, the fact that this helmet interfaces beautifully with the Smith IO goggles is a huge plus!

First impression

Moment Night Train Ski

Moment Night Train Ski

Rating for this product: 5 August 29, 2011

While shopping for a fatski, I rode a few different types of skis. Here are a few that came to mind: the K2 Hellbent, the Moment Comi, and the Moment Ruby. I liked them all in their own way. The Hellbents were super playful and great for chop. The Comi's were also great fun and incredibly stable at high speeds. Finally, the ruby's were a solid mid-fat ski, but not what I was looking for. I wanted something in between the super playful Hellbent and amazingly solid Comi. The Night train fit the bill. With a flat camber and slight rocker of the tip and tail they seem like they'll hold up just fine at high speeds on the hard stuff. But plenty soft and wide enough to play around when mother nature decides to give out free refills. The best part, they're super light! I can't wait to use them.
