The North Face Meridian Twin Basin Short - Men's

The North Face Meridian Twin Basin Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 March 30, 2006

I guess I wasn't expecting anything above and beyond normal hiking shorts with these, so I don't have too much to gripe about. They are a little bit on the long side. I generally prefer this to super short choices, I might go with a 10in inseam next time. The 12 is just a bit much. Lots of pockets though!

Icebreaker Sport320 Rock Zip Long Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker Sport320 Rock Zip Long Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 19, 2006

This is one amazing mid-layer. Extremely comfortable, warm, stylish...it is my new favorite piece of gear. Most other brands don't fit me well, as I am fairly tall and have a long torso. This fits perfectly. No belly-button showing here. Just don't tumble dry it.

Snow Peak Titanium Spork

Snow Peak Titanium Spork

Rating for this product: 5 January 19, 2006

This is one awesome utensil. No metallic taste, lightweight and hardcore. However, when combined with my snow peak 600 cup, sounds of metal scraping metal make my ears bleed.

Snow Peak Titanium Single Wall Cup 600

Very lightweight! However I personally cannot use it in combination with my titanium spork. The metal on metal sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard, thus ruining my appetite.

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 30, 2005

This jacket deserves all the praise for it's warmth, killer looks, functionality, etc. However, I happen to be a bit taller than your average Joe, and the torso length of the jacket doesn't seem to be cutting it. And yet the chest size is perfect. It still works, I just wish I could get the length of a large in the width of a medium. If you're of a taller stature I would go with a bigger size.

When I think of a tech tee, words like "billowy" or "spandexy" come to mind. In my experience the cut and fit of a tech tee is very important. This tee is neither billowy and loose like most non-spandex tops or like a second skin. Its comfortable, it fits well, its colorful.

Princeton Tec Aurora Headlamp with FREE Pulsar

Princeton Tec Aurora Headlamp with FREE Pulsar

Rating for this product: 2 November 30, 2005

This little headlamp is pretty good. It keeps up with leading brand lamps in functions (3 brightness levels and 2 speeds of flashing). It’s pretty inexpensive too. However, I dropped mine from a standing position (approx 3-4 feet off the ground) and the plastic housing broke. I think I'll shell out a few more bucks and opt for a tougher headlamp next time.
