Simple Overnight in the Chicago Basin, SW Colorado

GoLite Xanadu 1 Shelter 1-Person 3-4 Season

Rating for this product: 4 July 9, 2009

Used the Golite Xanadu One for a quick overnight in the lover end of Chicago Basin off the Needle Creek trail. Weather was good....no rain. Tent performed as expected...absolutely no inside condensation except right where I was breathing on the top of my sleeping bag. The tent does not come with a footprint so I used an old one....tent is too expensive to be puncturing the floor on rocks or wood. Set up did not seem easy to me. It must be staked out or forget it....best I can tell it is not free standing. During setup, you must really put the tent poles into an sharp arc to get inside the floor wall. This is especially evident when placing the last pole. As you can imagine, if one of the lite poles splinters under the pressure, you will be kinda SOL. You must be especially careful to have the sharply bent poles in their grommets or the pole could puncture the floor....they slip out of the grommets with unfortunate easy. Again, it did NOT rain...that will be the true test. I bought the tent for its lite weight and its open construction. I have had it with single wall tents and their condensation problem. This tent seems to overcome this problem. I will enter another review when we spend 5 days in the Chicago Basin very likely in rainy condition. Then I will know how good the tent really is. Lonewolf
