It's great! I took one of these into the backcountry of Kentucky a couple weeks ago-- during some ridiculous rains and flooding-- I had no problems whatsoever and the ease of access is just like every other dry pack.

Engineers always have a reason. I'm with you though, the polished finish would have been nice!

This one will do a good job plus, if you mess up, it's easily repairable-- holds a patch well. The seat could use a little something for comfort on longer runs though!

These are specific to Brunton application but I've found they often work in other units as well.

9'8" and 9' on one side and then angle the other 9'8" on the other. I'd use an extra strap though, since it's off balance.

Tevas usually run just a little longer in the toes but, other than that, they're true to size.

Adult Small and Youth large are almost identical in size except for the Adult Small is just slightly longer.

It's not quite that compressible but it does pack well. It also has a higher return to loftiness than down so the trade off is worth it as long as it'll fit in the pack.

It's a great size for students. I used one about that size through my entire undergrad program.

It comes with the latest firmware available at the time of production. With the rate of advance in these though, I'd say you're likely to need an update prior to use.
