CAMP USA Silver Star Climbing Helmet

CAMP USA Silver Star Climbing Helmet

Rating for this product: 3 April 25, 2005

I purchased this helmet to use at an Adventure Race that required it. I had to wear it for several hours, including during 3hrs of canoeing and it was comfortable enough. There is more foam in the top than I had expected and the around the ear straps are a bit annoying to adjust (never could get it to stop rubbing my ears). I'm an MTB'er so I guess I'm spoiled by helmets that are much more comfortable (and with a visor). The around the head tension worked good though.

I was very disappointed and concerned to find my "new" helmet purchase in previously opened packaging. The helmet was already scuffed and there were no tags or labels in the packaging or attached. Safety equipment is not something I want to receive in a possibly "used" state but I was within a week of needing this for my race so I was stuck.

Don't race without them...

SmartWool Trekking Heavy Crew Sock

SmartWool Trekking Heavy Crew Sock

Rating for this product: 5 April 25, 2005

These socks are the best. I've been using them for several years in orienteering races and adventure races. They provide outstanding cushion and I have never had more than a pea sized blister using them, even after 14-15hrs of continuous trekking on trails and off camber bushwhacking. They dry quickly enough (the key is also wearing shoes that dry quickly - no waterproof shoes!). I wear a size 15 shoe so these socks go a long way in helping make the very limited selection of trail shoes more comfortable to use.
