I car camp with 4 or more dogs and buy a lot of chairs and headlamps. Trust me on these things. Everything else view with suspicion (although if you always agree or NEVER agree, I am your prefect reviewer; anywhere in the middle, I'm not). See www.davidbaker.com/more/

Would be fine if the quality was better

Crazy Creek Original Chair

Crazy Creek Original Chair

Rating for this product: 4 March 16, 2009

It's just a Crazy Creek knock off but a very nice one compared to most. Unfortunately there is a defect in mine so that it doesn't fold along all the proper spots making it a little unbalanced to sit in sometimes. Hopefully mine was the exception and without that, I'd give it 4 (if they all have the defect, 2).

Black Diamond Icon Headlamp

Black Diamond Icon Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 March 16, 2009

I went in to REI and ask the dude near the headlamps, "What's the best one here for general use" and he said, "No question, the Icon." So I thanked him, went home and ordered one of these up from here and I have to agree. I've ordered five more since for around the house and for a friend who also agrees this is the best any of us has ever tried. Keep in mind it's a little heavier but the multiple levels of both flood and spot and the incredible power of this headlamp is just perfect for everything I do. I still have several Zipkas around, my choice for the tiny option - but they aren't comfortable to wear and don't have nearly as many light levels. I actually like the battery on the back configuration for the balance and comfort. The Zipkas now are mostly used to strap on to something and not something I wear any longer.

Great, GIANT tent

Paha Que Perry Mesa Tent 8-person 3-season

Paha Que Perry Mesa Tent 8-person 3-season

Rating for this product: 5 March 16, 2009

If you don't care about weight, this is the one. I don't have anything to really compare it to, but this is one great tent for what it is - a REALLY heavy monster that will sleep 2 adults and 4 dogs easily. My wife and I needed a tent for camping on Cape Cod with our dogs and bought this. And we are SO glad we picked this one - others had reviews saying they weren't sturdy, poles broke, et cetera. We were in Cataumet on mid June last year and a huge storm hit with pouring rain for hours and hours along with horrendous winds trying to rip the tent to shreds. Tent, poles, everything held up fine. Used it again for www.summerween.com and it makes for a great place to sleep, store costumes and use as a changing room. Also worked great in on a southern Utah camping trip - see http://picasaweb.google.com/davidbaker/081016_19chuteCANYONshindigOLY510#5259216939304316066
