HOT helmet

Bern Baker Hard Hat Audio w/Knit Liner

Bern Baker Hard Hat Audio w/Knit Liner

Rating for this product: 3 June 29, 2011

A well constructed helmet. Warm enough to keep you shredding until the last bell, but unfortunately there aren't any vents to open during hikes, spring days, etc. It keeps you really warm

The audio kit is OK, but one of my speakers is right on my ear and the other is behind it, which gives it a weird echo.

Not the best for all around use but the bill is nice to keep snow/rain out of the goggles on those wet days. Actually it is great for wet weather (PNW, SE Alaska) because there is nowhere for the rain to get onto the top of your head.

light and sturdy

Black Diamond Transfer 7 Shovel

Black Diamond Transfer 7 Shovel

Rating for this product: 4 June 29, 2011

Great little shovel. Fits well in a backpack for sidecountry days and isn't too large to hinder movements on/off lift or skin track.

One con is that it is fairly small and can't move as much snow as some of the BCA models, but it cuts in very well.

Much more sturdy than the plastic models and nearly as light.

Super Duper

Backcountry Access Tracker DTS Beacon

Backcountry Access Tracker DTS Beacon

Rating for this product: 5 June 29, 2011

Great beacon, great harness, great overall.

Very fast in searching even when you aren't as practiced as you should be. The battery life seems to do well also, lasted the whole season (december until June) without needing to be replaced while being used for at least 2 days a week and sometimes upwards of 5 times per week.

Super durable as well--I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Rain Rain rain-proof

Sierra Designs Hurricane Accelerator Jacket - Men's

Sierra Designs Hurricane Accelerator Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 27, 2011

Great Jacket--the rain/snow beads right off. The interior lining is super nice for those fall and spring days that are just a bit nippy.

One design flaw--huge hood. Fits over a helmet for sure, but when biking or doing anything where it could catch the wind, it will. Cinching it down can work though

The North Face Mountain Sneaker - Men's

The North Face Mountain Sneaker - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 27, 2011

I thoroughly enjoy these shoes for most casual walking. I wouldn't take them out on a trail unless necessary. Fairly comfortable and seem to be holding up for the past few months in the snow, mud, wet conditions we have been having. Good grip in slick conditions and I even get a compliment about them here and there,

The one gripe is that they are pretty heavy, but I guess I can just say that they are good training for lighter shoes.
