  • Stomping Grounds:

    Anywhere I can go outdoors
  • Bio:

I currently live in Wisconsin - therefore my main stomping grounds are the state parks and forests around WI. Enjoy hiking on the Ice Age Trail.

When not stomping around in WI, I love to travel out west to the mountains to go hiking, climbing and mountain biking. Some of my favorite places include SE Utah, Colorado, NW Montana, Washington State and British Columbia. And for bigger adventures Argentina and Chile.

Very disappointed

Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boot - Women's

Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 March 5, 2011

I have a love / hate relationship with these boots. I absolutely love how they wear and feel. They are the most comfortable pair of boots I've owned. On the other hand after having them for 2 years and hiking in Patagonia in Argentina on a typical day (rain, snow, sun) day in Patagonia - my feet started to get wet. Didn't think too much of it, but wondered why. Next trip a couple months later wore them backpacking in Montana and hit snow / rain mix at 7000+ feet. They totally gave out. I had to ring the water out of my socks by the time I got back to camp. Not fun to wear wet boots and wet socks when backpacking and the weather is now cold. Brrr. Had to make a stop after that trip before hitting Glacier to buy another pair of boots.

Wear as a base layer all winter long

SmartWool NTS Microweight Zip-Top - Women's

SmartWool NTS Microweight Zip-Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 5, 2011

This is a great base layer. I typically switch between this and my Patagonia Capilene layers. I like this one when it's windy because I can zip it up on my the neck. Not my first SmartWool purchase and probably not my last. One of the brands I like best.

Comfortable for hiking

Mountain Hardwear Yuma Pant - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Yuma Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 March 5, 2011

Wore these for the first time today hiking. They are very comfortable and shed the snow/ice mix easily to keep the pants dry. They also kept me warm in the cold (~32 degrees with 20+ mph winds). Definitely recommend.

Toasty Warm

The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Climashield Prism - Women's

The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Climashield Prism - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 24, 2011

This sleeping bag kept me warm while backpacking through Glacier National Park after Labor Day when the rain and snow were falling as well as the temps. I also used it in winter in the Ozarks. Never got cold. Love the space to curl your hands up inside the bag and the extra padding in the foot area - my feet tend to get cold easy and did not with this bag. Thankful for all the reviews I read prior and BackPacker Magazine for selecting it as a top pick.

Love this tent

Kelty Gunnison Pro 2 Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 February 24, 2011

I love this tent. I've used it backpacking a couple of times so far. A couple times with me and my two dogs - plenty of room for a human and two lab mixes. I've also used it backpacking in the Cabinet Mountains and Glacier National Park in Montana. Both trips included every type of weather imagineable and held up well for two people.
