Toasty Feet

The North Face Chilklog Clog - Women's

The North Face Chilklog Clog - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 21, 2005

I bought these clogs last winter and was very happy with how warm and dry they kept my feet through all the snow and slush. I found that regular cotton socks were not comfortable in them, but a good pair of wool socks took care of any sweating issues.

Great Pants

The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pant - Women's

The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 September 21, 2005

I bought these pants for hiking/backpacking, and love them. They are very comfortable, and look great. My only complaint is that the side pockets aren't a little bigger for carrying a map or handkerchief.

My First Pack

Gregory Deva 60 Women's Backpack - 3500cu in

Gregory Deva 60 Women's Backpack - 3500cu in

Rating for this product: 5 September 21, 2005

This is the first overnight backpack that I have purchased, and I am very happy with it. All of the straps keep the load stable, and the padding allows it to sit comfortably. The side pockets make it easy to get to smaller items, and though the opening to the sleeping bag compartment is a little tight, I am able to get my bag out with little trouble. I don't know how the size would be for longer trips, but so far up to three nights (sharing the load with my husband) has not been a problem. My pack is a size small.

Great Bag

The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Polarguard - Women's

The North Face Cat's Meow Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Polarguard - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 21, 2005

This has been my first season of backpacking, and my first sleeping bag since I was a kid. So far I am very happy with it. I am 5' 6" and average build. I expected to feel restricted but have had plenty of room to move around in it. I spent one night when the temps dipped just below freezing wearing long johns, and I did wake up a little chilly, but cinching the bag around my face seemed to take care of that. I have also not had any problem on warmer nights.

Cozy Boots

The North Face Chilkats Winter Boot - Women's

The North Face Chilkats Winter Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 29, 2005

The Chilkats are very comfortable, and have kept my feet toasty warm through the snow. They seemed a little stiff at first, but have broken in nicely. The lace hooks clamp down on the laces which makes tying them easier, and the rubber the soles are made of works very well in slippery conditions. In areas where my husband has had trouble keeping his footing, I have walked without a problem.
I liked them so much I bought the chilklogs as well.

Great Boots!

Montrail Torre GTX Hiking Boot - Womens

Montrail Torre GTX Hiking Boot - Womens

Rating for this product: 5 March 29, 2005

My husband got the men's Torre GTX, and loved them so much he insisted that I try on the women's version. I was a little resistant-- being new to hiking I thought I should be looking at the lighter weight shoes. I ended up getting them, and I absolutely love them. I have never noticed any weight, even after a long day hiking. I didn't find they they took any time to break in, maybe because I started off slower. I do notice that each time I put them on they seem snug, but by the time I start walking they are just the right fit. They even come with lacing instructions that tell you how to relieve different stress/discomfort problems. They are very supportive, have great traction, and have kept my feet dry through all kinds of puddles and muck.
