Arc'teryx Palisade Capri - Women's

Arc'teryx Palisade Capri - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 August 10, 2009

just bought these in Mammoth in the mountaineering store. never bought Arcteryx pants before, but love their jackets. i wear a size 2: waist about 25 inches, hips 33. they feel very polyester-y on the hanger, but once on, you don't even know you're wearing them. no annoying synthetic feel against the legs. because of the stretch, they move with you, then move back to create a trim profile. there is no bulk in the pockets or waistband. they look great on-thin, fabric, but not so much that your underwear line shows through. breathable. fashionable. quick-drying. now i'm looking for the long pants. they're an immediate fav. am glad they fit me (most pants don't).

Contourwear AnyWear Pant - Women's

Contourwear AnyWear Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 2, 2009

i am 5'4" and about 120#, somewhat longwaisted. waist 25, hips 35. i bought a size 2 and have a black and grey pair. i have trouble getting pants that fit. these pants fit me perfectly, although they are a smidge long. they're ok if i wear them with heels or boots. the fit is fantastic. i usually wear them out to dinner. the slit at the bottom is very sexy, and they're lower rise, hitting between the hip and waist. i have taken them travelling. they come out of the suitcase wrinkled, but once you put them on they look fine. i would imagine that being schoeller they would be great for hiking as well, but i can't hike in them as i'm keeping them at their longer length for fancier occasions. the hidden pockets are awesome too, though it's tight fitting a passport in them.

Contourwear HoodieWrap Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Contourwear HoodieWrap Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 June 2, 2009

ok, i love the style, love the fabric (supersoft and cozy), but i am 5'4", 122 #, bust 35" with rather broad shoulders. i ordered a small.the shirt fits, and fits me well in the torso, but i can't spread the hoodie down over my shoulders to create the sort of top i envisioned (too tight). am sure if i went a size up the body of the shirt would be too big. sure, i'll wear it camping for a cozy comfort shirt, but not as a sexy top for travel. also, in the hood part of the garment the fabric is doubled, so it is rather thick. actually, i don't really think i'll wear it in public. should have returned it for the money since i'll only use it as a camping top. but, it may fit you correctly and then you'd have the perfect top for nights out, travel, camping, whatever!

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2008

i had an old-style patagonia r2 that i loved to death. was looking for a replacement-something soft and cozy and warm for camping, skiing, plane rides. i tried some other fleeces which were too thin (including the newer patagonia r2), and some with windproofing, which were too stiff and made me sweat easily. i love this coat and have been wearing in almost non-stop since i bought it. i am an "always cold" person and it keeps me warm and comfortable without overheating whether i'm sitting around indoors or out hiking.

Mountain Hardwear Lynx Fleece Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Lynx Fleece Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 October 17, 2008

got a small and a medium. i am 5'4", 120# with larger shoulders and small hips. the small was too tight in the shoulders. because of the windstopper it didn't stretch much. and though the medium was good in the shoulders, it was huge everywear else. very soft fabric outside, but it is a stiff, not cuddly, jacket due to windstopper. also, to clarify, the inside is more of a soft brushed fabric, not a fuzzy fleece.

TOO BIG FOR ME

Oakley Breathless Sunglasses - Women's

Oakley Breathless Sunglasses - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 April 23, 2008

bought these without trying them on in a local store first. thought they'd be fine. they were too big for my (female) face and they're metal and surprisingly heavy. i guess the good thing about them is that the nose pieces are adjustable.

the other downside-they're so large and curved that if you place them in their hard case and put them in your purse they take up a huge amount of space-almost as much as a ski goggle. not practical for me.

i sent them back and think i'll stick with my overly sporty radar paths for a while until i find the perfect fit.

Contourwear AnyWear Pant - Women's

Contourwear AnyWear Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 April 30, 2007

fyi, read other comments on the pant listed in the "outlet". bought these in a size 2 and they fit like they were custom-made for me (they fit true to the countourwear size chart). they do wrinkle when packed, but the wrinkles disappear when you put them on. these pants are really chic and elegant, and look great with heels for dinner. haven't yet used them for hiking. they seem almost too nice for that use, although the schoeller fabric should hold up well. am buying a second pair in black ASAP.

my favorite coat!

Mountain Hardwear Compressor PL Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Compressor PL Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 12, 2006

Bought this just to wear around town, but it works for all my activities. I have it in the black/shark and it fits in well in an urban environment. It’s also my favorite backcountry coat. It’s warmer and more compressible than fleece, lighter than a down coat, water resistant, soft against the skin. It takes up no room in a pack when backcountry skiing or backpacking, and I wear it under my shell when lift skiing. It’s also the perfect travel coat. The pockets zip shut, it works for city or play, and makes a great pillow for the plane.

Great look, but could breathe better...

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Women's

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 November 21, 2005

After going on a backcountry ski trip where the majority of people were wearing softshells, I must say I get cold easily. I am not that warm in the jacket when inactive, and find it doesn't breathe all that well when ski-hiking with a pack on. My friends say it's because of the fabric, that the Schoeller fabrics breathe better. Love the look and fit though. For my purposes a hood would be useful too.

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 22, 2005

First, French Blue is a gorgeous periwinkle color-you can't tell from the website.
I wanted a baffled, lightweight down jacket that looked good, came in a nice color, and was very compressible. It was hard to find, but this is it, with added hood and water-resistance too!
This jacket is well-designed. The zipper on the collar is hidden when you zip off the hood. It has useful inner (one mesh, one zip) pockets and hand warmer (lined and zipped) pockets. There’s heavier fabric on wear-areas (shoulders, outer arms). It’s very warm and lightweight. I use it solo and as extra layer while backcountry skiing. It compresses nicely in its stuff sack, and is roomy enough to fit over my hiking clothing/shell if necessary. Slightly longer than the Marmot and Patagonia down jackets I tried (a good thing).
My only complaints: VELCRO® on front zipper-flap and hood is black (they could've matched the blue fabric) and the arm length could be a little longer.
Overall, the jacket filled all my requirements and I’m very pleased.
