Good Size for School

The North Face Recon Backpack - 1830 cu in

The North Face Recon Backpack - 1830 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 January 11, 2012

I'm a college student and I couldn't find a backpack big enough to fit all of my books until I saw the Recon. It has a laptop pocket which I put my 13" apple in, has good back padding and is wicked comfortable. The side pockets are also perfect for fitting a nalgene bottle. It isn't waterproof so only take it hiking if you are positive it won't rain.

Good Buy

The North Face Venture Pant - Mens

The North Face Venture Pant - Mens

Rating for this product: 5 January 11, 2012

Extremely durable.....I slid down a hard glacier on my butt and there are no tears. I am 5'10" with a waist size of 31" and the mediums fit me fine. Also nice to have the velcro on the bottom to make tight around your boots.

Merrell Outland Mid Waterproof Boot - Men's

January 9, 2012

I've never worn mine in the summer months but I would think they would be too warm to wear in a Vegas summer. Probably look for something that breathes better.

Great Boot

Merrell Outland Mid Waterproof Boot - Men's

Merrell Outland Mid Waterproof Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 9, 2012

I've used mine on two backpacking trips in the Rockies for a total of about 70-75 miles and the boots are in AMAZING shape. There is a lot of boulder hopping on our trips and the boots stick to the rocks like velcro......they may make you feel like you have mountain goat blood pumping through your veins when you see how well they grip. I was not limited at all on any of the climbing and hiking. The boots grip all surfaces well except for harder snow. If you are doing a lot of hiking on snow I would suggest some crampons.

First time I wore them was a backpacking trip and I had no problems with the boots or my feet. I have narrow, flat feet and it is hard to find a comfortable fit for them but this boot fits them almost perfect! I've mis-stepped with them on and the boot kept me from spraining my ankle.....the fit and ankle support are my favorite things about this boot. I've also stepped in streams but never got my feet wet.

Good Bottle

Stanley Vacuum Bottle - 16oz

Stanley Vacuum Bottle - 16oz

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2012

I'm a Chemical Engineering student stuck in his senior year that has to pull many all nighters. Without my warm coffee in my Stanley Vacuum Bottle I don't think I would have survived last semester. With that being said I have never had it leak on me and I have drank warm coffee from it 12 hours after filling it. It was not steaming hot but still warm. The cup/lid holds 4 ounces of fluid as it can be filled 4 times before the bottle is empty. The elk design is also pretty rad!

I'm in love

The North Face Tadpole 23 Bx Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

The North Face Tadpole 23 Bx Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2012

Used it on Froze to Death plateau this past August and it easily withstood 40 mph winds, sleet, rain and snow. I was kind of nervous that the tent wouldn't hold up but after 5 minutes in the storm I realized we were fine. Not a single drop of water inside the tent.....that goes for windy nights or calm nights. I could write a book to you about how well built it is and how easy it is to set up but I'll let the other posts on here do that. Might be a little small if you have two bigger people but we fit two 5'10" people in it comfortably. You won't regret this purchase.

Great Pack For Me

Osprey Packs Aether 70 Backpack- 4000-4600cu in

Osprey Packs Aether 70 Backpack- 4000-4600cu in

Rating for this product: 4 January 8, 2012

I'm 5'10" and 160 pounds with a smaller sized bone frame and this pack fit me fine. There are many adjustments and tweaks you can do to distribute weight and make it comfortable. I went on a 4 day backpacking trip in the Rockies with 55 pounds of gear and I thought the pack performed amazing. After about 30 miles my collarbone had a spot that was rubbed raw from the shoulder strap but that was more of me not wearing a thick enough shirt to protect myself. I found the pack to be much more comfortable than my old Kelty pack. I don't regret spending the money on this pack. Hope this helps!

Pure Awesome

Katadyn Vario Dual Technology MicroFilter

Katadyn Vario Dual Technology MicroFilter

Rating for this product: 4 January 8, 2012

I haven't used mine yet but my buddy has this model. We used it on two backpacking trips in the Beartooth Wilderness and I liked it so much that I had to get one. On our most recent trip we filled four 3 liter camelbaks and two 2 liter packs and it took 10 to 15 minutes. When you're on a trip the last thing you want to do is sit around and pump water through a filter and thank God we didn't have to! Many people complain about leaks but we didn't have any problems.

Jetboil Flash Personal Cooking System

Jetboil Flash Personal Cooking System

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2012

Used multiple jetboils the past two years on backpacking trips. The jet boil can be disassembled and fit inside the main compartment. There is also enough room to put a fuel canister in it.
