I love my duel headed ax, it's practical and chops really well, but let's be honest here, its best feature is the fact that it's a fun little ax that's great to throw at trees and logs.

If you are looking for a light weight hatchet to take backpacking, don't get this ax. If you are looking for something to whip out at your next car camping trip to throw at a tree and wow your friends, I highly recommend this.

Due to it's small size I wouldn't classify this as an ax, but it's also a little bigger and heavier than your standard hatchet.

This is a big burly survival knife, it came super sharp and I've been impressed with it so far. I mostly use it as a self defense/ security blanket for when I go hiking by myself in cougar country, or to ward off would be bad guy hikers who would be interested in stealing my camera equipment, as such the handle has really taken a beating as I've squeezed through many a tight spots where the handle and sheath have been sandwiched between me and jagged rocks, so far, despite the abuse, the handle still looks brand new.

I have other knives I use when precision or weight are primary factors, but when I'm in survival mode, this is my go to knife. It's also really well priced, I got mine on sale for about 35 bucks, at that price I don't think it can be beat.

First Off, GoLite is claiming that the nest weighs under a pound at 15.9 oz or 450 grams, but that doesn't include the weight of stakes which do not come with the nest. Stakes do come with the shelter however and if you plan on using it with the shelter you don't need the stakes. The total combined weight of the nest and shelter is 2 lbs 3 oz, which is crazy lite.

I've only used this in conjunction with the Shangri-La shelter and it does an adequate job; it will keep the bugs away and your sleeping bag dry, but the fit is off. Unlike the shelter the nest is really droopy, especially on the sides. I wish they had used an extra gram and added a few loops or something so I could make the fit more tight to the shelter.

Overall I'm pleased with the shelter, I really like the versatility, weight, and the protection it offers, but I'm disappointed about the way it attaches to the shelter.

This is a very cool knife, fun to mess around with, but for the price I paid I'm surprised at how quickly it looses its sharpness, granted, I mostly use it for digging up mushrooms which can't be good for the blade, but from day one I was kinda disappointing with the sharpness of the blade.

After 2 years of varied use, I've found that I love the look and fit of this jacket but not the performance. In rain this jacket offers very little protection, if there is a chance of rain leave it behind. In snow it does fairly well, I've used it both as a shell and insulation with solid results. It's best use however is for crisp dry days where you will be active.

But unless you can get an amazing deal like I got, save your money and get a similar jacket that will perform just as well at about half the price. At $150 bucks I'd love it, but it's priced way too high.

I like this bowl and haven't had any real problems but they really should change the sizing options to large, huge, and massive. The small holds 2 liters for crying out loud. I have a 70 lb dog and the small is huge for him.

This is a big 1 man "tent". I have no problem fitting in a full size pack and my 70lb dog along with me. At first I thought they sent me the 2 man version, the floor space is about the same size as the BD Firstlight 2-Person, but the Shangri-La 1 is much lighter, (even with the nest) more versatile, and more waterproof. I love the concept of being able to use it with the nest or by itself (with the nest it still only weighs 2 lbs 3oz).

My favorite setup is one pole in front with a guyline attached to a tree in back, this gives more room and it's easier to get it more taught this way, I also have 2 small key chain carabeeners that I use to attach the nest to the shelter. Set up is usually easy and only takes 10 min, although getting the nest attached properly was difficult at first.

The biggest downside to this tent is that it can be difficult to set up in windy conditions with soft soil and gravel. Because the tent stakes actually prop up the tent, extra care is needed to make sure none of the stakes pop out. My last trip to Moab there was sustained 40 mph winds and the ground was soft sand and gravel so I had to stack rocks on my stakes to ensure the tent didn't fold on me

Bottom line is if you already use trecking poles while backpacking and you can set up a tent properly, why would you go and get a smaller, heavier, less versatile traditional tent?

I spent one night in this tent by myself and I thought is was just right, but I would hate to have to try and fit 2 people plus gear in this thing. I love how lightweight and simple it is, but because it's so lightweight it is kinda flimsy, tearing and leaking are real issues. I would like to have this as my second tent when I go out by myself and space and weight are primary issues, but I wouldn't recommend this tent for normal situations for 2 people.

First I need to make a few corrections. Marmot is claiming a floor area of 53 square feet instead of 51 as is listed here. Also on the packaging it lists the vestibule area of 16.05 square feet twice (once for each entry) which means there is actually 32.1 square feet of total vestibule space, also, in addition to the removable gear loft there are 4 corner pockets.

This is the most versatile, waterproof, 4 person tent under 10 lbs and under $350 that I could find. Perfect for backpacking, climbing trips, or car camping with 3 people and a dog, but with all the storage space 4 people would be doable too.
