A simple tent serves the purpose
The North Face Rock 22 Bx Tent 2-Person 3-Season
June 3, 2008
We bought this tent on sale, 2007 model. We just came back from a camping trip at Lake Tahoe in May, 2008. The night was cold and showering. The tent kept us dry and shield wind well. The only design improvement should be the vestibule entry, which opened a little bit too high that water would drop in the tent in wet conditions. Otherwise, it is really good.

Excellent pants
Arc'teryx Minuteman Pant - Men's
December 5, 2007
I did not buy the pants for skiing. I bought it because I like the light weight and wind/rain proof gore-tex materials after I bought one for my wife. It really kept me warm (with under garment) in a freezing temperature. No wind get through at all. We went to Colorado for vacation in late Oct, 07, it was a big plus to shed the sand storms and wind. It is light but tough, some thing that will last more than rest of my life. Highly recommend it. The only two complains, small pocket. Cant use it for any thing and the snow powder cuff need some thing to roll it up if now skiing.

Fantastic Pants
Arc'teryx Minuteman Pant - Women's
October 30, 2007
I bought these Arc'Teryx pants for my wife. She was initially rejecting it because of price. We went to southern Colorado together in late Oct. She wore them with under pants, and the combination kept her warm in 20F temp. We also encountered a sandstorm in Great Dune National Park. Nothing can penetrate these Gore-tex pants. The material and quality is top-rated. The only complaint for this line of product is the pocket design. Too shallow and too small.

Great Pants
The North Face Liberation Pant - Ski Pant - Men's
April 19, 2007
This pair of pants is so good. They kept me completely warm and comfortable. My wife usually does not like this style of sports clothing. But this time, she said it looked very nice on me. She was impressed and asked me to buy another one. I have not worn it in cold winter sport event. But I will try it next time. From my limited experience, these pants will be perform really well.

A fair comparison with The North Face WindStopper
Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's
February 25, 2006
I just bought this MH Windstopper. I also have a TNF Pamir Windstopper jacket. After wearing both of them, I'd like to offer some of my comparison: Material: MH uses much better materials than TNF. The materials are tighter, lighter, less bulky. Style: MH looks better but TNF is great as well. Construction: TNF has better proportion than MH. TNF's zipper seems smoother as well. MH's sleeve is about 1.5 inches too long and jacket is 1 inch too short. Plus the size around chest is a little too tight. All this is compared for the same size. Mine is "L". Warmth: A mystery on all the reader comments. My experiences are that all Windstopper jacket is great for sport, for people on the move and for temperature above 40F. But if you want a jacket to keep you warm while you are not moving around, like studing, watching TV, or reading, then you really should buy a heavy jacket like TNF Denali. I bought one for my brother and tried it for a half day. It is really warm. Or one can wear an outer jacket over the Windstopper. I use my TNF Gore-Tex jacket to keep cold air out. Windstopper: Both are good. None will stand freezing wind (You will still feel the cold but less wind). Saying one can use Windstopper Jacket in freezing weather is an absolutely false statement. You really need an outer jacket. As I am writing this, I wear MH indoor. I love the jacket. But fair comparison is a fair comparison. I hope this writing help future buyers.

This is a good jacket
The North Face TKA 200 Full Zip Jacket - Women's
November 11, 2005
I bought this one for my wife. Initially, she thought the jacket is too thin. After she wore it to Northern GA Mountains with some heavy wind, she said the wind does not get through and it is warm. The only thing she complained is the size. It seemed to run a little small.

Pretty good jacket
The North Face Pamir WindStopper Fleece Jacket - Men's
November 11, 2005
I bought this jacket in the summer. I did not test it until recently. It is really a nice jacket. Warm but not like other reviewer commented as toasty warm. The wind does not get through at all so that helps. This jacket is better worn in the temperature of 50s in dry air. Lower than 50F, you won’t feel warm unless it is worn as inner jacket. In cold humid weather, this jacket can make you feel uncomfortable. Overall, I like it. Just have to know when it performs the best.

Be careful how the footprint is used
The North Face Talus 23 Footprint

Rain coating should face up so gravel will not damage the coating. Then notice if the color code is same as the tent.

Great Bag and Great Price
Kelty Light Year Sleeping Bag: 25 Degree Down
November 25, 2003
I bought two of these bags two years ago to camp at Banff National Park. My wife and I were really impressed with this bag. We do agree with other reviewer the temprature rating is a little too generous, I believe it shall be rated as 0F, maybe we are warm weather people. But we had an air-matress and another cover, the bags kept us warm for all the freezing nights. Since then we camped in Northern California this summer at the foothill of Shasta Mountain and at the high plains of Sierra Nevada. Those were cold nights also, but again this bag performed. One advice, buy one fleece liner for additional cover and one can use it as blanket in summer. Thanks BackcountryStore.com, we love your merchandise.
