GoLite 24 Pack - 1200 cu in

GoLite 24 Pack - 1200 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 December 8, 2006

This bag is wonderful - I recently used it for a winter day hike of Mt. Washington; it is amazingly light (lighter than my CamelBak mule, even with the same reservoir, but 3 times the size) and can hold an impressive amount of stuff. I did not use even a 1/3rd of the capacity with my softshell, heavy-duty mitts, thermos, food, water, poles, hat, gaiters, and crampons. Has convenient small mesh pockets in the waist belt and loops on the shoulder straps that work well for water tube and compass/altimeter. The one thing I would add to improve this bag is a small, watertight bag on the inside (hanging from a clip on the top perhaps?) to hold electronics, keys, etc. - there are no pockets at all on the inside, save a sleeve for a hydration bladder. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the product and its performance.

Warm but...

Integral Designs Hot Socks

Integral Designs Hot Socks

Rating for this product: 3 March 29, 2006

These are quite warm, but they’re too bulky to fit into my shoes. They seem to be a cross between a down bootie and a sock, and unfortunately compromise both functions too much.

I do like them for the post-climb drive home!

Excellent

Lorpen 2 Layer Polartec Ski Socks

Lorpen 2 Layer Polartec Ski Socks

Rating for this product: 5 March 29, 2006

These are fantastic. It’s the only socks I have found that keep my feet warm during long, cold belays climbing ice in the Northeast. Also on long mountaineering trips, the padded shins are a blessing. I wish I had bought another pair when they were on sale!

Icebreaker Skin200 Leggings - Women's

Icebreaker Skin200 Leggings - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 February 24, 2005

Title sums it up... I have a 31" inseam and the small fits perfectly. The leggings were toasty warm in a recent ice climbing day in the Catskills and were super soft and comfortable - easier to layer than Capilene (not as wrinkly) with a lower rise waistband. Best of all, they are not *&^% baby blue!

Patagonia Heavyweight Glove Liners

Patagonia Heavyweight Glove Liners

Rating for this product: 3 February 24, 2005

I have pretty large hands for a female (generally don't find women's gloves that fit), but the large in these gloves were too big - I had to return them. Might want to order smaller than your usual size.

warm even when wet

Patagonia Lightweight Glove Liners

Patagonia Lightweight Glove Liners

Rating for this product: 4 February 24, 2005

Performed very well on a recent ice climbing trip. Even when wet retained warmth and dried quickly even under heavier gloves. Run slightly large... I generally wear a size large and am wearing a medium in these, with a tad bit of room to spare.
