The North Face Wayfinder 19 Rolling Bag - 2440cu in

The North Face Wayfinder 19 Rolling Bag - 2440cu in

Rating for this product: 2 October 3, 2011

Purchased this as a carry-on for my wife. She flew from Montana to New Jersey and back, then from Montana to Wisconsin and back, six planes total, and stored it overhead-never checked. It already has a hole worn in the nylon ripstop where it is stretched over the wheel frame. I can only imagine what it would look like if it were checked and had a run in with the baggage handlers at O'Hare in Chicago! We have a 10 year old TNF rolling thunder, an XL and a L TNF basecamp duffles, and a 30" TNF Longhaul wheeled bag, all which have seen many trips and are beat to crap but do not have holes. Durability aside, it's a nice idea for a carry on bag, but still needs some design tweaks. I just returned the bag (Backcountry.com rocks....thank you!)

Out of the box fit

Five Ten Copperhead Climbing Shoe

Five Ten Copperhead Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 4 September 9, 2011

I agree with J Lambo below. My big toe and second toe are the same length, possibly from cramming my feet into climbing shoes for 20 years. I also wear a 10.5 street shoe and bought a 10 based on the reviews here and other sites. Out of the box they are snug but not painful, and if they stretch out 1/2 size will be perfect. First impressions: the lacing is a little wierd but will come in handy to dial the fit; if you have strong feet, the sole is thick enough to edge. But I bought them as a trad shoe for Montana cracks. Will post more after a few pitches.

Mountain Hardwear Nitrous Down Jacket - Men's

September 8, 2011

I have a question that may be a good one for Jon Webb. I know the differences between the Nitrous Down and the Compressor, but in terms of warmth, can you compare the two?
Thanks!!

run large

Outdoor Research Vantage Short - Men's

Outdoor Research Vantage Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 23, 2011

cool looking, nice details, feel like typical OR high quality. However, they run very large. I am 6'1" 200lb and wear a 36" waist. Ordered a 36 and they are big in the waist, almost one size too large. I would return them but I washed and dried them to see if they would shrink. They did not shrink. The moral of the story is buy them a size small or drink a lot of beer over the winter!
