G3 Manhattan Ski
February 9, 2011
I have been skiing 186 P100's as my daily driver for 3 years now but I've been interested in in getting a ski with a little more width and some rocker so I purchased the 185 Manhattan this winter. My first impression was that this ski is alot stiffer than my Prophets, but I liked the early rise tip and extra beef under foot.I have only 4 days on this ski, but each day I like it more and more.I was a little disappointed on the groomers as the G3 does'nt carve a turn as well as the P100. You have to really get the ski on edge and hold it to get the full flex out of the ski. This took a little while to get use to and when I got the hang of it the G3 preformed nicely.I did not find a speed limit here.Where the ski really shines is in the powder and especially the mank and crud.On 12" of fresh it turned great in the trees and I like the way the tip stayed up, this made turning in tight spots easy. But the best came later in the day doing laps under chair 23 (Mammoth) when everything was skied out and cut up.The Manhattan blew thru and over the mank like it was fresh pow.I've never had so much fun in those conditions. My friends bailed on me because it was too much work for them on that snow so I finished the day skiing alone.Overall I like the ski but I still don't know if I'll use it as a replacement for the P100.

Black Diamond Havoc Ski
March 16, 2009
So I'm thinking about getting an AT set up.Pretty much decided on Dynafit bindings. For skis I'm stuck trying to figure out if I should swap out the bindings on my 2yo 184 Mantras or go with something lighter like 185 Havocs or even lighter the 181 K2 Mt.Baker.Kinda concerned about the K2's soft flex.I'm 6'0" 190 lbs. and aggressive skier.
