North Face Did this one RIGHT

The North Face Scythe Jacket - Men's

The North Face Scythe Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 28, 2007

Used to love North Face. All the gear I bought was North Face and its all I looked for. Over the past 2 years I have moved to Arcteryx for their quality and fit. Nothing beats of fit on an Arcteryx item. I had the denali which fit terrible. It not only fit terrible which made it impossible to layer but every knucklehead around has one. Figured I would give North Face another chance and it paid big! The fit on this is the best I have seen in years (A large which I always wear fits perfect) Not everyone has one and its a workhorse on the mountain. A smart wool base, wind stopper t and this I am out and comfortable. Also lightweight and much more packable than the denali. A+ on this one.

Arc'teryx Motive Long-Sleeve Polo Shirt - Men's

Arc'teryx Motive Long-Sleeve Polo Shirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 November 19, 2007

Not a bad shirt. Pricey for what it is. Fits true to size (a bit fitted) Have never minded paying a bit extra for Arc'teryx gear but now thats its sewn in Thailand I will be looking at other names sewn in the same places for less money.

Wow

Arc'teryx Sidewinder AR Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Sidewinder AR Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2007

This is the most amazing hardshell I have ever bought (As it should be for the price tag) Let me start by saying over the years I have moved from North Face to all Arcteryx. I have numerous layering pieces including the Gamma SV softshell. All I was missing was a good hard shell. After hours of online research on this, the Theta AR and North Face Free Thinker I made the decision. Only 1 problem the sizing.. SIZE DOWN!! I am a large in almost everything.Owning the Gamma SV which is more fitted (I have this in a xl) I was guessing an XL for this coat. I am 5'11 185 bigger build (wish it was muscle) and it was a trash bag. A medium fits me perfectly.(Like all Arcteryx does) Sleeves are perfect and length hits below my belt.Plenty of room underneath for anything I need for layers.

Arteryx is tops by far

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Men's

Purchased soft shell a month or so ago. Great quality as always. People gripe on the price but for a quality 3-4 season coat, try and find better. I bought grizly color and it looks sharp. Pros: a super quiet shell that is definitely all season. I recommend sizing one up. I usually wear a large in Arteryx. This is semi fitted so I sized up to XL (this coat fits me like a regulare large). Only problem is sleeves are a bit long (tight cuffs keep them off my hands). I used to be huge TNF fan but would rather pay for the quality Arteryx offers.

Good Bag

The North Face Wasatch Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Synthetic

The North Face Wasatch Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Synthetic

Rating for this product: 5 March 27, 2006

For the temp rating, this is the best priced bag I could find. I am 6'0 180lbs ordered the long (I like the leg room). Very cozy inside to about 45 degrees with just long underwear and a t-shirt. Anything below you might have to bulk up. Bag compresses decent. Nice late spring/summer bag. Screen printed TNF on front, not on hood like others. For $50.00 I am very happy.

Illest coat of the season

Arc'teryx Covert Cardigan - Men's

Arc'teryx Covert Cardigan - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 10, 2006

Great coat/sweater. Very expensive but well worth every penny. Looks razor sharp for work with khaki's or jeans. Has the durability to be worn outdoors for whatever you have to throw at it. I have spent a comparable amount on some zip up sweaters that stretch and are ruined after a few wears. This looks better, (best fit you can get) and you know with the Arc’teryx name it will last forever!

Mountain Hardwear Transition Featherweight Zip - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Transition Featherweight Zip - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 23, 2006

I wrote a review above but forgot to mention a few things. I thought this was overpriced but read the reviews and all good things were said, it’s right on the money. Once you consider what you’re getting, it’s a bargain. ORDER 1 SIZE UP. The athletic fit is nice but snug. The only problem is once you size up the fit, everywhere but the sleeves fits well. The sleeves are long, which I guess isn't terrible because it leaves room for them to go over your hands if you don't have gloves.

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 22, 2006

My girlfriend’s brother is a real gear head. Spends hour after hour of researching online and word of mouth before any purchase. Saw him with this coat he anxiously showed it to me me. I laughed. Very light weight. Didn't think it would be the best coat I have ever owned. I was wrong. Wear it on weeklong snow-shoeing treks with a tech wick under it. PERFECT. Wear it around town. Never been cold. Wear it in the spring as a windbreaker. Pit zips if you get hot. Nice high neck, Perfect fit for layering over or under. If you going to buy one essential piece this is it.

Tubbs Altitude Series Snowshoes

Tubbs Altitude Series Snowshoes

Rating for this product: 5 February 22, 2006

I was excited about the binding, which turns out is a major drawback for these snow shoes. Unless you have the binding set just right it really hurts your foot. Have to stop a few times and mess with them. However, once you get the binding right really an awesome shoe. Light, great control, rugged, and great for moderate climbing and long hikes.
