Trail Running

La Sportiva Electron Trail Running Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Electron Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 11, 2011

Bought the La Sportiva Electron for a R2R2R run of the Grand Canyon and they performed wonderfully. Ran 54 miles in them 100 degree temps wiith minimal break in with no blisters. The sizing requires some dialing in to get a proper fit, so I contacted LaSportiva directly, but the morphodynamic sole provides incredible cushion and the sticky rubber sole was great for bouldering a V1, while waiting for buddies, and gripping water bars on the trail.

Kayland M11+ Mountaineering Boot - Women's

February 20, 2011

Nice boots, Janice, but way too light for 6000m peaks, unless you want to lose a few toes. If you're planning to get up to 20,000ft you better wear something warmer. I'm not talking out of my butt, here as I've climbed Denali, Aconcogua, Elbrus, Kilimanjaro, Rainier (16x), Mexican volcanoes, and many Ecuadorean peaks. These are great boots for the lower 48 and Ouray, CO, but I would, again, suggust warmer boots for any 6000m peak. IMHO.

Salomon Hiking Shoe

Salomon Exit Sport 2 Hiking Shoe - Men's

Salomon Exit Sport 2 Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 March 23, 2009

I've had wonderful success with Salomon shoes and had great hopes for the Salomoon Exit Sport 2 Hiking Shoe and utilizing this shoe for a trip up the Mountaineer's Route on Mt. Whitney this summer, but alas on my first trip, on the Mishe Mokwas Trail, with these shoes was SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTED by their fit and total lack of traction on the rock. I'm an experienced climber and runner, having hiked and climbed Denali, Aconcogua, Kilimanjaro, and run 22 maratons and the rim to rim to rim in the Grand Canyon, but I WOULDN'T give this shoe to my worst enemy as a gift!! I nearly broke my neck, repeatedly, working on rock that I'd trust in my Nikes.
DON'T waste your $$$$$ on these. I really like Backcountry and Salomon shoes and boots, but these truly SUCK!!
