Favorite base layer

Stoic Merino 150 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Merino 150 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2011

Great for running, hiking, snowshoeing, and all the above.

The merino wool is soft and warm. The thumb holes are nice for keeping hands warm and the sleeves from pushing up. I would definitely recommend it. I'll be getting a couple more soon :)

Favorite new pants for cold weather

Stoic Tour Softshell Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2011

These pants are awesome. Got 'em off SAC and couldn't be happier. I got the Excaliber/Deep and in person they appear to be a little darker with a hint of purple to them ( I think it has to do with different lighting). But I like them anyway

The microfleece interior makes them so soft! The outside material has some nice stretch to them but are still tough. The pants also have a more athletic fit making them perfect for people who are always on the move.

I'm 6' 1" and 158lbs and I got the medium.

Sweet gloves!

Stoic Forge Glove

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2011

Just got back from a snowshoe backpacking trip and these gloves kept my hands nice and toasty. The leather is nice a tough and I love the wool liner.

My friend tried them on, and with out me saying anything, told me "woah, these are nice gloves". Yep, he's right!

Super lightweight, great for running

Salomon Fast Wing Hoody II - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 27, 2011

This jacket is definitely lightweight. It's hard not to bring it on runs and hikes since it takes up little space and weight. I am the photographer for a high altitude running camp (steensmrc.net) and this summer I brought this jacket on our "Big Day" which included below 45 degree wind at over 9,000ft in elevation. It was cold! (see pic). But I threw this jacket on, pulled the sleeves over my hands and the hike was tolerable. The day generally warms up so I didn't have much else on, just lightweight running gear. I already had to carry a pack with all my camera gear, but when it was time to take the jacket off, I didn't even notice it in my pack.

I would recommend this jacket to anyone who needs a small, lightweight wind barrier for running and/or hiking.

Salomon Fast Wing Hoody II - Men's

September 27, 2011

I'm just under 6'1 and 160lbs and the large fits me; perfect for running.

No recommendations on a thin but insulative soft shell with a hood. I like my Stoic Welder Lo Softshell (http://www.backcountry.com/stoic-welder-lo-softshell-mens), but its not really insulated

Great product so far!

Stoic Welder Lo Softshell - Men's

Stoic Welder Lo Softshell - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 25, 2010

Like other people, I'm not one to write reviews for products, but this jacket is an exception. In reading the other reviews, I wondered if they would be misleading but have found so far that I agree completely.

This jacket is awesome! I've never owned a nice softshell jacket, but I've seen friends with jackets by North Face and other brands and this one seems to be just as good. I've poured water on my sleeves and it just beads and falls off. Can't wait to use it in the snow tomorrow.

It fits quite nicely. I'm almost 6' 1" and 160 lbs and the large feels good. The sleeves are plenty long enough and the hood functions great. It's definitely more of an athletic fit (which I like); the sleeves are more tight than other jackets I've worn, but I can still wear a couple of long sleeve layers underneath.

All-in-all it's a great product and I'm glad I bought it. If your looking for light weight outdoor jacket, I would highly recommend it.
