Black Diamond Seeker Telemark Ski Boot - Men's

November 28, 2011

Black Diamond boots have a width somewhere in between Garmont and Scarpa boots. I have both BD and Garmont boots. My feet are wide yet slender and I prefer the BDs as the Garmonts are too high volume and more suited for not only wide, but also fatter/chunkier feet. My Garmonts feel a bit sloppy because of this, even after moulding. But if you have Garmonts and like them I say stick with a good thing. Boots are the hardest bit of gear to buy.

MontBell Ultralight Down Half Sleeve Jacket - Men's

MontBell Ultralight Down Half Sleeve Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 29, 2011

I've been using this as an insulating layer for Northwoods backcountry skiing for a few months now. Great insulation for very little weight and it's held up well to lots of bushwhacking through dense forest. No holes yet. Makes a good sleeping layer for winter camping and a perfect insulating layer for fast and light backpacking (or any backpacking for that matter).

It's also great for lounging around the house in winter if you like to keep the thermostat down. The fact that it has a half-sleeve and weighs 6 oz makes it barely noticeable (I hate the feeling of wearing a jacket indoors), yet adds a ton of warmth to your core.

The only reason it get 4/5 is some of the down panels seem under-stuffed.
