Had this jacket for a few months now

Rab Microlight Alpine eVent Down Jacket - Men's

Rab Microlight Alpine eVent Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 24, 2011

I can honestly say that I love this jacket. It fits great - no long arms, nor does it feel like a big, huge parka. I bought a Large and am 5'10"/165 lbs. It is very slimming, if you will. It's VERY lightweight and also warm - worn it in single digits with a cotton sweatshirt and had no problems. I've worn it in the rain and stayed dry all day. And most importantly, I wore it while working (shoveling snow and cutting wood) and did NOT sweat inside it. The eVent actually works like advertised. It's been awesome and I'm so glad I bought it. Worth every penny!!!

Only thing I don't like is that the hand/side pockets are too high up.

Arc'teryx Fission SL Insulated Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Fission SL Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 26, 2010

Just an FYI for those who don't have an athletic build or are not thin - I'm 5'10", 165, with a bit of a belly. I just received my Medium today and have to return it because it's a little too tight around my stomach. If I layered underneath or gained any weight, I'd be screwed. Also the sleeves are a little long too, so I would imagine they'll only get longer with a Large. For this kind of $$, it needs to be perfect. Too bad though because this jacket looks and feels awesome - EXTREMELY light, which is the main thing I was looking for (along with waterproof, breathable, and insulated).

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket - Men's

October 7, 2010

Mtn Maniac - A Carhart jacket that is super-lightweight, 100% waterproof, and very breathable with a lifetime warranty- never seen one. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Brandon - Thanks for the suggestions. I did some research on them all and am going with the Fission SL. Thanks a lot for the help!

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket - Men's

October 6, 2010

I love this jacket, but I've seen a few reviews that basically say this jacket is NOT for people who are NOT skiers or mountain climbers or doing some other hardcore activity. Well if this isn't the best jacket for urban dwellers who want a really warm, 100% waterproof, super lightweight, very breathable jacket while shoveling snow/cutting wood, and also has a lifetime warranty, then what is the best money can buy??? Thanks!
