I had an older version of these, and while they were durable, and a great value, there were some pretty annoying shortcomings. The new version solved those problems. There are well located vents on the thigh, they added belt loops, and the front pocket openings are longer so you can get your hand back out once you have grasped the car key. The pockets also seem deeper. I was looking at another brand, and took another look at these because they had been such a good value. With the changes, I'm very satisfied with them.

Based on other reviews, I ordered a medium. It fit perfectly over a t-shirt, but was too small when I layered it over a fleece jacket that I would normally wear while skiing. So I sent it back for a large. I'm 5'10" and 165#. The only thing I don't like is that fabric is a little noisy.

These are a good pant for the price. This is the second pair I've had. I use them for resort and back-country skiing. The new ones have made some changes that didn't improve them. The angle of the pockets has changed, with the result that the opening is about an inch shorter than on the old version. They are too small to get your hand in and out of comfortably. The pockets also seem shallow, and a cell phone in the front pocket is always poking you where you don't want to be poked. That's true on all of the pockets, including the thigh cargo pocket. The full side zips are not great for venting. Zip down from the top, and there isn't much left to hold your pants up. Zip up from the bottom, and you have to come a long way up to get any real ventilation out of them. And the suspenders are just weird. No belt loops.With the addition of a pair of regular clamp on suspenders, these are a perfectly acceptable pair of pants and compare pretty well to others costing twice as much. But they are nothing special. It's too bad, because with a couple of pretty minor changes, they could be really good without adding much to the cost.

This is a very good shell. There are well-placed pockets everywhere. There's a convenient and appropriately sized pocket for just about anything you want to carry. The fabric is water proof and breathes pretty well, with pit zips when it really gets warm. Other reviews comment on sizing. I normally wear a large in t-shirts and jackets, and found the large to fit just right. There is room for layering with a fleece jacket underneath, and on a really cold day, a bulky down jacket. But it isn't sloppy or tent-like. Buy your normal size. The sleeves are a little on the long side, but that also helps with layering and keeping the snow out.

I replaced a North Face with this. The pockets, both number and functionality, are much better on the Mountain Hardwear. The North Face fabric may breathe a little better. The hood will zip of the North Face, but not on the Mt. Hardwear, but it rolls up tight enough that it's out of the way when not needed.

These are really nice shoes, but they run very wide. I tried a smaller size, and the length was too small. But if you have narrow feet, choose something else.

I bought this helmet mostly because I liked the visor and thought it would keep the sun out of my eyes. It more or less works for that (though not as effective as I had hoped). But if you like to ski in goggles, the visor makes it pretty difficult to put the goggles up on the helmet. Mine won't stretch enough to lift over the visor. I mostly ski in sunglasses, so it's not a big deal, but if I always wore goggles, the visor would be a little annoying. But it's warm as can be, even on sub-zero mornings, works with my old Tune-Ups from an earlier helmet, and fits great.
