Bio:
I'm 23, lived in Denver for 3 years. Quite a bit of experience skiing, climbing, cycling, rafting (guide), kayaking and backpacking. Love great gear and testing new stuff. Looking to move to the Evergreen next year for some total wilderness immersion. Currently trying new sports that are leg broken/knee shredded friendly for a bit

SmartWool PhD Outdoor Light Crew Sock

I wouldn't use these by themselves in a heavier duty boot. For trail running in ankle cut shoes, usually more venting and breathable these are great and I swear by them, I cant even wear cotton socks anymore and you really don't need the rubbing of another poly pro liner for everyday stuff, and the "support zone's" really hold the sock in place and comfy. If your planning on wearing a boot or something a little more heavy duty I would always throw on a thin poly pro like Phil mentions, just more comfortable and moisture wicking. just my 2cents

Deuter Futura 32 Backpack - 1950cu in

They both fit great, and I have to say I love the pack, the suspension system, pockets, storage, zippers and the hydration setup, my one little gripe actually regard the water bottles, you do need to take the pack off to get to them and it's also kind of difficult to get to the mini pocket on the right side strap (camera, snacks etc).

DAKINE Heli Pro 20L Winter Backpack - 1200cu in

I've been using the black diamond deploy 3 shovel (excellent and durable metal btw), and the Super Tour 265 Probe. Like Tyler said there is no dedicated tool compartment, but this gear does fit well on the bag and if you use the attached mini bungie's you can get the shovel to sit on the outside of the pack really nicely. There's also a mesh compartment in the bag with a spot for a bladder.
