So far i've mostly worn this as a second base layer when at lower activities levels. The two was zipper makes it really flexible. The hood fits super snug, especially around the neck, a little strange at first to feel it, but makes sense as it keeps the volume of the hood down.

Great secondary base layer for colder days or lower activity.

Warm!

Marmot Col MemBrain Sleeping Bag: -20 Degree Down

Marmot Col MemBrain Sleeping Bag: -20 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 4 October 31, 2011

Just gave the Col it's first bout of trials hiking Mount Marcy on the weekend. I was warm through the night camping part ways along the trail both before, and after attacking the summit.

Squeezes down not half bad for such a warm bag either.

Stoic Merino Bliss 150 Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 5, 2011

Good fit, great stretchy soft wool. No smell. Excellent value too. Backcountry.com's nailed it with this one. I'm 6', 180 lbs and the medium is a form fitting baselayer thanks to the spankdex.

Solid layer

Patagonia R1 Hooded Fleece Pullover - Men's

Patagonia R1 Hooded Fleece Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 23, 2010

Solid layer. I like that it comes down low with the thinner material. My crack won't come out inadvertently when boarding. Good stretch and the hood is awesome. Wore it for a quick hike for the winter solstice, with a base layer, it, and a hardshell and was great in windy -10C conditions for the hike. It's since been snowboarding and mountaineering. All kinds of useful.

Mountains or even Jungles

Norrøna Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 30, 2010

I've had this coat for almost a year now and have been thoroughly impressed. It has been through ski, to mountaineering, to the jungle with me. The Lofoten summitted Mt Marcy with me in whiteout conditions in January 2010, and kept me dry in the rains in the Central American jungle in August 2010. The coat packs down well and stuffed into my backpack no problem and is lightweight.

The only issue I would say is that it's cut quite trim. Had ordered a medium originally which fit fine, but close (I'm 6', 175 lbs), and was too snug to put a down layer under it. Returned it for a large, backcountry.com's return policy is great and no issues.
