  • Bio:

    Andy Traslin

My parents got me into skiing and the mountains at a young age. Progressed to ski racing, to front country. Then I started finding powder stashes I had to keep going further and further to see what was around the next corner .I like to push myself to the maximum in the mountains to see what I can do physically to my abilities.

I have been racing in the Pro/elite category for 7 seasons now as a mountain biker. Included a 3rd place podium at the Cheakamus Challenge marathon cross country race this past September. Racing enables me to go further and faster in the mountains in pursuit of steep skiing and speed traverses. I worked eight years as a ski patroller.
Other activities I like include: free ride mountain biking, road riding, bouldering, rock climbing, mountaineering, ice hockey, tennis, trail running. I like to go see live bands in small venues; as well I have been following the Vancouver Canucks for many years in quest for the Stanley Cup. Favorite bands: Pennywise, Fugazi,Minor Threat,Janes Addiction,Faith no More,Slightly Stoopid,Rjd2,Pretty Lights.

    Ski Related Accomplishments:
    14 first ski descents total

The North Face Base Camp Duffel Bag - 2560-4395cu in

Rating for this product: 5 September 21, 2010

I first saw these on Denali when everyone was slogging up Denal.North Face always had them in photos. This bag rocks.I have all my ski mountaineering gear on stand by in this thing. When it's time to do a trip I just grab the bag and go.When I get to the trail head I take what I need for the day.Durable and water proof.

I like this sock for climbing.Compared to the chalk free.I usually spill it at some point either in my pack or somewhere on the crag. The sock is more self contained.

Better than the secura fixes

Backcountry Access Alpine Trekker Adaptors

Backcountry Access Alpine Trekker Adaptors

Rating for this product: 3 September 17, 2010

Just be glad you didn't have to use the original secura fixes. These are a step up for sure.If you are a downhill skier and want to go for a quick hike these are for you.Clip and climb.Clip out and ski.Just get used to carrying a lot of extra weight in your pack.It will make you stronger when you can afford lighter bindings.
