Osprey Packs Atmos 50 Backpack - 3000 cu in

Osprey Packs Atmos 50 Backpack - 3000 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 June 23, 2005

I wore this pack for an overnighter trip on the AT in the TN/NC mountains. It was awesome to wear! My back was actually cool with the new airspeed frame!!

My pack weighed 18lb, I think it could hold about 10-15lb more before it would be uncomfortable. The hip belt pockets were great for a bag of gorp although you can't stuff them once you cinch down the belt. There are tons of options...pockets, straps, a whistle on the chest strap, and a nice sleeve for your Camelbak, even the option of hanging your water bag in the airspeed frame. The only drawback is the airspeed frame leaves a huge hump in the pack so it takes a little thought in packing. Otherwise, great pack!!

jetboil rocks!

Jetboil Personal Cooking System

Jetboil Personal Cooking System

Rating for this product: 5 June 23, 2005

It doesn't get any better and faster at boiling. Because it's so fast you have to watch out for it boiling over! Once my beans started boiling over, tip the stove in an angle away from the control knob otherwise scorching dinner comes flying towards you. By attaching the cup then starting the gas, ignites much faster—just watch out for the flash. What’s next, jet pan? That would be nice!

The North Face Venture Jacket - Mens - 2003 Model

The North Face Venture Jacket - Mens - 2003 Model

Rating for this product: 4 May 23, 2003

Worked great as long as the weather is rainy and cold! In the Virginia mountains at 41F I hiked 3 miles without any condensation but once it was around 50's it was wet, but then so are most jackets/pants. Lightweight, good quality!

Awesome cookware! Extrememly light, durable, heated water fast! Only drawback is drinking hot liquids heats up the bowl, but that passes. Easy to clean; Snowpeak gear has always worked great!!

a little too cold....

The North Face Flight Sleeping Bag: 35 Degree Polarguard

The North Face Flight Sleeping Bag: 35 Degree Polarguard

Rating for this product: 3 May 23, 2003

It's light and easily stuffed in a pack. 35 degree rating is a little off..should be around 45. When it was 51F the bag worked well but once it dipped in the mid-low 40's it was a little cold. Repelled water well, dried quick, otherwise a nice bag.

nice tent!

The North Face Slickrock Tent 2-Person 3-Season

The North Face Slickrock Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 May 23, 2003

Lightweight, durable, little condensation inside. If there is wind blowing, no condensation at all! The batwing fly design is interesting, giving great ventilation when sleeping with your head near the mesh side. Opens on both sides with a small vestibule (a larger, longer wing/vestibule would be perfect) on each, enough to hold your boots and a day pack. A regular size pack won't fit all the way but adding a pack cover or rain jacket on the pack fixes that. Extremely easy to set up/take down, even in the dark. Took about 30 seconds to do. Pegs not necessary. Awesome free standing tent!!
