Electric EG2 Goggle

January 25, 2012

Another way to check: if you have a pair of polarized sunglasses, then hold the goggles in front of your glasses or vice versa so that both are parallel to the ground. Next rotate one pair of the polarized eyewear (i.e goggles or sunglasses) ,either clockwise or counter-clockwise, 90 degrees so that the rotated pair is now perpendicular to the ground. If the polarized lenses in question are indeed polarized all light should be blocked out. As you rotate the pair back to horizontal to the ground the appearant visual light transmission should gradually increase back to normal. Thats how I normally check if a lens is polarized using my oakly antix sunglasses. Hope this helps!

Awesome for the price

Gerber L.S.T. Knife

Gerber L.S.T. Knife

Rating for this product: 5 January 24, 2012

I bought this knife on SAC and really like it. It's light weight and simple in construction, yet I prefer carrying this around rather that some of the more "gimmicky" knives I've purchased in the past. I highly recommend this to anyone who is not a knife-elitist that wants a blade to get the job done.

Awesome "Big" Knife

SOG Knives Fixation Bowie Knife

SOG Knives Fixation Bowie Knife

Rating for this product: 5 January 24, 2012

I ordered this knife off SAC about a year ago and love this thing. The reason I jumped on this purchase is because I bought a SOG Seal Pup before this whose quality really impressed me. The Fixation knife was not a let down. It feels really good in your hands and it's really solid too. This is definitely more of a camp/short hike knife as it's pretty large and heavy. I use this around camp for vegetables/meat duty and it stays in my tent with me next to my Ithaca. I would definitely purchase this knife again and highly recommend it.

Good but not great

SOG Knives Flash II Knife

SOG Knives Flash II Knife

Rating for this product: 4 January 24, 2012

I am a huge fan of SOG knives. Let me start by saying that. I have this knife in a survival kit because it is so freaking light weight. That's the good part. The bad parts are that: Mine came with alot of play between the blade and the frame, and the blade seems really dinky. I like this knive for a backup only because I carry a Seal Pup and CRKT folding knife as "Main"/Heavy duty blades. That being said, I'm a knife fanatic who carries more shiny blades than are really necessary.
/Cheers!

Nice for the S&C price but small

Giro Manifest Goggle w/Bonus Lens

Giro Manifest Goggle w/Bonus Lens

Rating for this product: 3 January 19, 2012

Gold Boost 75/ Amber 38 Lenses were the lense options my goggles came with. I did not have a chance to test these goggles on the mountain cause my head is too big for 'em... The tech specs say medium to large face, but I definitely believe they are more of a medium goggle. I did have a chance to mess around with changing out the lenses and it's really simple and quick to do. I wish these goggles fit so I could give a more thorough review, but what can you do... Anyways, sending these back to S&C and gonna be ordering a pair of way more expensive :( Smith I/O's or Dragon APX's. BTW I paid $60 for my pair on S&C

Tent Chandelier

Black Diamond Orbit Lantern

Black Diamond Orbit Lantern

Rating for this product: 5 January 19, 2012

I have had this little light for about a year now and absolutely love it. It's compact, efficient, and versatile. I got it on S&C for a steal of a price, but this is an item I would gladly dish out the $30 for. I mostly use it as a tent light which I hang from the roof hoops. The metal clasp on this is nice because it can be easily hung from just about any loop available. No more fumbling around looking for a flashlight in the middle of the night or early morning.
