GoPro Hero2 outdoor edition on Katahdin
GoPro HD HERO2 Outdoor Edition
March 20, 2012
Just a quick edit from our trip up Katahdin with the hero2. Ran into a few troubles the cold night sucked the battery down on day 1, I didnt think to put it on my charger pack until that night. After staying fully charged up all night I didnt have any trouble with the battery life at all. This camera is top notch coupled with a 32 gb SD card and a battery backpac (purchased after this trip) you can snag ALOT of raw footage. This is mounted up to an unvented helmet using the curved 3M mount. This videos quality is degraded a fair amount from windows movie maker (all Ive got right now) and youtube being what it is. But either way a decent sample of what this puppy can do. Shot in 960p, 48fps

Oakley Half Jacket Sunglasses
July 27, 2011
These glasses have been through everything. I have worn them skiing/snowboarding, climbing, hiking, camping, mt biking, kayaking, rafting, running, and as casual sunglasses. They look just as good as they did when I first got them, I get migraines easily because of glares and sunlight, so these get daily use. I have 4 lenses for them, gold iridium, Blue iridium, Transitions (mt biking, hiking) and hi def yellow. I love them all for their respective uses. And fully trust my eyesight to Oakley optics. Plus they look darn snazzy on me.

Compressed Rock Solid
Kelty Mistral Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree CloudLoft
June 2, 2010
This is a photo of the sleeping bag compressed down with Granite Gears Rock Solid compression stuff sack. I put a tape rule by the sack for reference. Hope this helps those of you considering picking this up for a backpacking bag. Like stated even stuffed and compressed its a fairly large bag, but it can be manageable if need be.

Burton Custom EST Snowboard Binding
December 15, 2011
Bindings would depend mostly on the size of her boots. I would get Burton bindings just to save yourself from buying a new baseplate. All of the hardware will be included someone who knows a little something about snowboarding should install them for you. If you can get back to me with a boot size I will be able to help more. These bindings are adult sized mens bindings small is size 6-8 mens. If her feet are smaller than that I would look into kids bindings, the burton mission smalls are pretty solid.

Forum Contract Snowboard
December 13, 2011
I think you would be fighting this board in the deep stuff, I mean it will do fine on a fresh dusting at the park, but I wouldnt venture out of bounds or anywhere that would have deeper snow. Obviously you can take any stick out in the powder if you are skilled enough and are willing to constantly be fighting to stay afloat, but this board isnt going to fare well.

December 10, 2011
If you are going to stick to the resorts and tree skiing personally I would go with the 185s however you (and myself) are in that "in between" size where personal preference is really the only way to choose. So I guess I cant help any except by saying I am 6'1" 162lbs and I ski on 185's

Arc'teryx Micon Jacket - Men's
December 10, 2011
Honestly? I think a coat like this is overkill for what you want to do with it. Now I understand how cold it gets at sporting events, and how wet it can be in Ch-town in the winter, but honestly this coat is designed to take abuse in the backcountry of well.. just about wherever you want to take it, every day. Using this for a Chicago winter just seems like using a Ferrari to win a soap box derby.
That said... will this do your job? yes, and then some. If you want to dump the dough on a coat this nice rest easy knowing that just about anything you can throw at it, it will take in stride.

Kelty TC 3.0 Kid Carrier - 1450cu in
December 6, 2011
He might be a ltitle big for it, I imagine your daughter would have a tough time carrying him in it. Though if you put it on him, and her in it.. that might just work. I understand the need to keep your husband and your child tied together, makes perfect sense to me.
All jokes aside, this carrier should suit you guys just fine.

Stoic Merino Ski Sock - 1 Pair

Thickness is about the same on this as the smart wool quality is right there as well. I am a long time smart wool fan, but I own 3 pairs of these and wouldn't dig through my drawer for a pair of smart wools if these were on top.

Line Sir Francis Bacon Ski
December 4, 2011
Between the two I would say its pretty much preference to be honest. I shred with the bacons and love them, but a bro of mine uses the JJ's on the same exact terrain (usually at the exact same time) and he swears by them. Not much of a help I know but demo them both if you can. Pick your weapon accordingly.

Tubbs Wilderness Snowshoe - Women's
December 4, 2011
The only bits that are plastic are the bindings, and the deck. The frame is aluminum, the crampons are steel. That is pretty common these days in hiking shoes. These would be about perfect for her assuming of course she is not hauling a pack weighing 30+lbs, if so you might want to look into a bigger shoe, a 25" would be ideal and give her more float while backpacking. If she is just going to be out doing day hikes and just fun trips out in the woods the 21" will be perfect for her. Tubbs quality is top notch, and I can assure you that these are more than durable enough for her, and should last her many happy years.

Flow Trilogy Snowboard Binding
November 30, 2011
Actually they collapse even further than most bindings. If you remove the "powerstrap" from the binding, to put your board in a bag it will collapse almost flat, and you can just toss the "strap" in the bag separate. Takes only a second, I do it all the time.

Arbor Element RX Snowboard
October 31, 2011
I had a custom x from a few years back I too really enjoyed the stable ride and good response of it. But after switching to a rocker profile and an arbor board, I cant see myself ever going back to the custom x as my go to board. The ride is phenomenal even in deep powder, on steep slopes, ice, "The system" just digs in and makes it all feel like butter. Hope I helped some.

Thule Universal Flat Top 4 w/Locks
September 13, 2010
I dont see why it woudlnt, it may hold them a little tight, I used to use a similar rack for fishing poles in my garage, but this one clamps a good bit tighter, if you are using ultra light poles I think that might be an issue, but with a striper pole, or a deep sea pole or something it would work well I imagine.
