Marmot Venus Down Jacket - Women's

January 18, 2012

If you're worried about rain maybe look into the Marmot Baffin Jacket. It is equally as warm, but in incorporates Primaloft Insulation which can get wet and still keep you warm. If down gets wet its useless.

Good not Great

The North Face Half Dome Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

The North Face Half Dome Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 31, 2011

Got this sweatshirt in an XL and fits me great (6'2 205lbs). I generally wear a Large in TNF but for some reason I had to go a step up so the sleeves and the overall length fit. It is a nice, thick, snug fitting hoody that keeps you warm and comfortable.

I did wash it in my delicates and dried it on low to minimize the shrinking but it did not end up well. I recommend not drying it because it did shrink enough to where the sleeves are now short. Not a big deal, but for future reference I would air dry it.

Good price point for a hoody.

Osprey Packs Talon 22 Backpack - 1220-1343cu in

I agree with out4fun. When you put in a hydration pack it helps keep the structure from being to rigid on your back. I love this pack.

Worth Every Penny

Osprey Packs Talon 22 Backpack - 1220-1343cu in

Rating for this product: 5 May 31, 2011

I am 6'2" 208lbs and the M/L pack fits great. It is highly adjustable and easy to find the right size.

I took this for a 15 mile round trip hike along the Ice Age Trail and though my shoulders did get a little sore, I took the weight off and let it rest on my hips for a few minutes to let my shoulders recover.

Osprey hit the nail on the head with this pack. Every pocket has a purpose. I like that their are two hip pockets. I had a builder bar, clif bar, and powerbar in one hip pocket and a pair of binoculars in the other.

The main compartment held my rain jacket, rain pants, jetboil, dehydrated meal, tea cup, camera, and an extra midweight layer with room to spare.

The top pocket held my towel, first aid kit, and multi tool.

The outside stuff compartment is really cool for layers you take on and off alot during your trip without having to go through your whole pack. I kept my Marmot Driclime Windshirt in there along with my bandana.

I had my 3L camelbak in the reservoir compartment and had no problems with it sliding around. A very snug fit.

This pack was a great investment and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Marmot PreCip Safari Hat

Marmot PreCip Safari Hat

Rating for this product: 5 May 31, 2011

Took this on a 14.2 mile rountrip dayhike along the Ice Age Trail and it performed perfectly. It was 93 degrees with high humidity. When I was above the treeline I pulled both brims down to shade my neck and shoulders and when I was shaded by the trees I used the magnets to clip it back up.

I love this hat and look forward to wearing it with every trail I encounter. Good Buy.

The North Face Horizon Peak Surplus Pant - Men's

The North Face Horizon Peak Surplus Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 28, 2011

I am 6'2" 205lbs and the Large/Regular fits great. I bought one pair and loved them so much that I ordered the other 3 colors. The pants are a space saver when not in use because you can stuff them into the rear pocket and when wet dry very quickly when in the sun for a few minutes.

Great hiking pant that is a staple in my outdoor wardrobe.

Marmot Incline Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Marmot Incline Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 28, 2011

I am 6'2" 205lbs and the Large fits great. I have the short sleeve version and this shirt is GREAT at moisture Management. I ran 7 miles in this shirt the day I got it and it moved all the sweat off my body to keep me dry. The shirt on the other hand was soaking wet :) but a handful of minutes out in the sun when I was done dried it quickly.

The material is silk like against your skin and feels really comfortable underneath your backpack straps. Don't worry about the seams because they won't chafe at all.

Perfect product for a variety of uses.

Don't DRY It

Marmot Transport T- Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Marmot Transport T- Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 11, 2011

Followed the care instructions:

Cold wash using powdered Detergent
Dry on Low and remove immiediately

Now my once roomy, comfy shirt is now shrunk and too small. Don't dry this unless you plan on using it as a belly shirt when you pull it out of the dryer.

Marmot DriClime Windshirt - Men's

Marmot DriClime Windshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 26, 2011

I'm 6'2" 210lbs and the Large fits perfect. Great jacket on its own or perfect compliment underneath my Marmot Aegis. This piece of gear has made it on top of my checklist for every trip.

Have worn it running in 20 degree Wisconsin winters (over the top of a baselayer) and the driclime fleece kept me warm...

Very versatile piece of gear for any type of scenario, and for anytype of weather.

Gear of the Year

Marmot Aegis Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 10, 2011

Love the jacket. I'm 6'2" 205lbs and the Large fits great.

Sleeves are long enough and so is the overall length on the jacket. The pockets are nice and deep and the ability to roll the hood up is a nice addition. I loved this jacket so much I got my fiance the same jacket but in women's for her.

(Note: The picture above is featuring the "Vapor Blue" color NOT the "Surf")

Great Pants

The North Face Windstopper Hybrid Tight - Men's

The North Face Windstopper Hybrid Tight - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 4, 2011

I am 6'2" 205lbs and the Large fits great. I got these as a gift for cold weather running.
These pants really cut the wind and repel alot of the blowing snow or light rain. My old New Balance pants I used to have to layer tights over my compression shorts just to stay warm but with these Pants I can just wear my compression shorts and feel comfortable.

These pants are a slim fit and really kind of hug your thighs and loosen up by your knees to your ankles. The windstopper fabric on the front really does a great job to keep out the elements and keep your core temperature from fluxuating.

The pocket in the back can hold my ipod and keys without any discomfort.
I love these pants and would recommend them to anyone who's serious about running in the winter. These pants go great with TNF Windstopper Hybrid Jacket.

The North Face WindStopper Hybrid Full-Zip Jacket - Men's

February 23, 2011

The stormy trail jacket is more of a lightweight wind breaker. I would recommend the windstopper hybrid because it is a warm, lightweight and a good jacket to combat the elements. I wear this jacket over a baselayer and have run all winter long with no problems. And when the weather gets nice you have a nice spring jacket to throw over a tee.

The North Face WindStopper Hybrid Full-Zip Jacket - Men's

February 23, 2011

I have this jacket and have TRIED layering it over my Marmot Down Sweater and the large is kind of a tight fit. Though its not a vest I would still say go a size up just to give you more movement when layering.

LOVE MARMOT

Marmot Zeus Down Jacket - Men's

Marmot Zeus Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 17, 2011

With all my Marmot Gear the Large fits great (6'2" 205lbs). The sleeves are perfect length and the elastic cuffs are great for tucking your gloves underneath to help protect from blowing snow or the cold wind.
It also features a "wind flap" behind the zipper to help combat wind drafts. The pockets are nice and warm. And it's a space saver when you pack it into its own pocket.
This jacket was well thought out without going overboard with mindless features. It has what you need and nothing you don't.
Great to wear as an outler layer in dry cold conditions or as a midlayer, underneath a shell, in wet or snowy conditions.
Compared to other down jackets (Patagonia Down Sweater, First Ascent Down Sweater) this is by far the best deal and the cheapest also.
Go buy one, you won't regret it.

The North Face Bighorn Bx Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Heatshield

February 15, 2011

I fold it in half longways and roll it up starting with the toe box (so all the air can escape through where your head would be) and as SMJ3797228 says after you get it almost all the way in cinch it up then shove the rest in.

Takes a few times to get right but its pretty easy after you get the hang of it.

Marmot Sawtooth Membrane Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

February 15, 2011

Get the pinnacle. For the little extra you will get a bag that incorporates 800+ fill than 600. It will take up less space, keep you warmer, and provide a DWR finish to the exterior shell. The sawtooh with the membrane shell doesn't breathe as well.

Go with the pinnacle.

Great Buy

The North Face Impulse 1/4-Zip Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 15, 2010

First off let me say sizing is true fit. I am 6'2" 210lbs and I got a large and its a nice fit both in the body and length.

I bought this pullover for running both for spring/summer and for layering in the winter and it's awesome.

I took it out on an 8 mile run today with temps up near 90 degrees. It breathes really well, better than my patagonia runshade, and provides great ventilation with the side panels and the whole back of the shirt. The little side pocket is great for keys or gels and is easy to get in and out of while running.
I love North Face shirts. I have been really impressed with everything that I have purchased out of their Flight Series, so check it out.
Overall, great fit, great vents, great buy.

The North Face Ultra 104 GTX XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 4, 2010

Love these shoes. The traction seems to wear out quickly but the overall fit and comfort is great. The gore-tex shell helps great to when walking through wet trails and/or hiking through streams.

Overall this shoe is a great buy. I knocking off one star because of the traction wearing off real quick but otherwise an overall great buy.

Jetboil Flash Personal Cooking System

May 26, 2010

The difference between the new Jetboil Flash and the old PCS system is that the cup has a color changing flame that lets you know when the water is hot (as if you can't tell). It also has a clear measuring cup and a see thru lid. All other cups, new and old, will fit on the system. Everything else is the same...
