Good Jacket!!

Marmot Oracle Jacket - Men's

Marmot Oracle Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 29, 2010

I have been using this jacket as a waterproof outerlayer for skiing and touring. Gave this a real good product test in BLIZZARD conditions in Mammoth the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. It did great in 60+ mph winds, blowing snow, etc. Nothing got thru! I combined this with a pair of Marmot Tamarack pants in that weather...What a great combo! I was warm, dry, and comfortable... The next 2 days were sunny, and I was very comfortable skiing all day both days, even in the direct sun...Good Gear!!

Good gear!!

Marmot Tamarack Pant - Men's

Marmot Tamarack Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 29, 2010

I just bought this pant in an XL to use as an outerlayer for skiing, touring, etc. Fit was OK with the XL.. I am 6' tall, 210 lbs.. I got to product test this last week in Mammoth, in BLIZZARD conditions-60+ mph winds, blowing snow, etc., on Tuesday,11/23/10 it was a WHITEOUT, and I had to go out into town for food, etc....The pants protected me from all of it...nothing got thru, and I wasn't uncomfortable when hiking thru town in the blizzard for well over 1 1/2 hours. The next 2 days were bluebird and pow...even in the direct sun-with a pair of black pants on, I was completely cool, comfortable and DRY!!! This is good gear!!

K2 BackLash Telemark Ski

September 17, 2010

Go with the K2 Backlash. I have a pair of BD Havocs in a 185cm length. The Havocs are a VERY demanding ski that I would not recommend for anyone less than an expert skier. They seem to be more of a big mountain ski, IMHO...

Great skins

Black Diamond GlideLite Mohair Mix STS Climbing Skin

Black Diamond GlideLite Mohair Mix STS Climbing Skin

Rating for this product: 5 May 31, 2010

These are GREAT! Lightweight, packable and user friendly-on and off, these gripped well and didn't ice up. Be sure to treat them with anti-glop wax right out of the box, and keep them treated, and you shouldn't have any issues. I have had no problems whatsoever..

Gotta stay on top of these boards!!

Black Diamond Havoc Ski

Black Diamond Havoc Ski

Rating for this product: 4 May 31, 2010

I bought the Havoc in a 185cm length, and find it best suited for very steep and somewhat "open" slope environments, where you can "rip" at high speed, making GS style turns. It also performs very well in the crud and crust - just rips thru it. This is not a ski I would ski the trees with at all, as it just doesn't turn nearly quick enough for my "taste" in there, but as a serious big mountain ski-this would rule! NOT a ski for a beginning or intermediate skier at all, but one for a well seasoned backcountry expert. You really have to "stay on top" of these or they'll run away from you, or worse yet, put you on your face quick if you let your guard down. A very, very demanding ski..

Black Diamond Alias Avalung Pack - 1831-1939cu in

May 6, 2010

The individual Avalung-not part of a pack- cannot be used as an integral part of another pack, i.e. you cannot use the Avalung itself inside of, or as part of another pack. This could be p[otentially be a deadly mistake, as the Avalung mechanism needs to be exposed in certain locations.See the Black Diamond website for more info on Avalung use and operation....
