The North Face Triple C Down Jacket - Women's

February 11, 2011

I have both Metropolis and Triple C. I think Triple C is slightly warmer (has a higher down count at 700) and the long length is nice in really cold days. But i think Metropolis does a far superior job of blocking the wind - it is seriously windproof. So if you live in a windy area, Metropolis will likely keep you warmer. I have both because of length options (i am 5'3 - so one is close to knees, the other closer to ankle) - but if it's really windy, i reach for my Metropolis.

The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's

The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 11, 2011

i bought this over a year ago, in the Ivory color. Its a very warm, comfortable and light coat - and the windproof feature is rock solid. I am now going through my second winter with it. I have been outside in the cold in 30-40mph winds and its still nice and toasty - somehow far more effective than my other "windproof" coats. Also easy to wash. I throw it in delicate wash cycle with woolite or tide (free of perfumes or dyes, so it does not bog down the down feathers). Then i put it in delicate cycle in the dryer, with 2 dryer balls, for about an hour or longer. Comes out clean and fluffy and ready for reuse. I have washed it at least 6 times so far in my stackable washer/dryer and never had a problem - its nice that you dont even need the big machines to clean this.
