Western Mountaineering Bison Gore WS Sleeping Bag: - 40 Degree Down
June 28, 2010
Western Mountaineering uses 850 down fill while Marmot uses 800 fill. WM is also made in the USA where as Marmot is made in China. Wm is also lighter than Marmot. IMHO I would not spend the extra money on the WM bison over the Marmot CWM because they are both rated for -40 and both have a lifetime warranty. Marmot started out as a sleeping bag company aswell and they also have some of the cleanest down available! As far as quality goes they are both great bags and there really is not much difference.

Marmot CWM EQ Sleeping Bag: -40 Degree Down
June 6, 2010
Marmot has the best down in terms of being hypo-allergenic. They clean there down thoroughly. Hardly anyone is allergic to down itself but people with allergies to it are just allergic to the dust that is on it. Here is a link that may answer more of your questions on down allergies: http://marmot.com/sites/marmot.com/files/Tech%20Manual_10_FI
Pages 25 and 26 will bring you to their sleeping bags and down quality.
But having said that if you think you might be allergic to down then go with something like the North Face Dark Star -40 sleeping bag.
