Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 27, 2010

I just got lucky and picked these boots up at a used sale lot this weekend. Paid $29.00 for them. They did not have any insoles in them so I had to find the right size insole from another boot just to make shure they fit. I got these home and walked around and I like them. I stuck them in the pool just to see how water proof they were and after a long time my socks were dry. The tread looked as if the guy used them once and returned them. I love the way they lace up and how I can tighten the top around my ankles without wrenching down on the upper foot and toes. The boot is narrow in the heel but gives plenty of room in the toe box and I like the flexability of the shoe. It is like wearing a runnning shoe with outstanding ankle support. I like the way the boot does not pinch the back of my leg when i walk like other boots do. I can not say anything for breakin period because the other guy did thay for me.

Sorel Conquest Boot - Men's

Sorel Conquest Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 3, 2010

Spent 3 nights 4 days at Mt Whitney in the middle of February in freezing temps. Boots did great. Put a pair of Black Dimond Neve crampons on and they did fine, got me up and down the Mountain. Work great with snow shoes. I sweated through the boots on the hikes and even in the morning with frozen boots, damp from sweat in freezing temps (15 degrees) and crossing streams my feet never got cold. I was surprised on how well they kept my feet warm and now I know if you don't have the money for a pair of mountaineering boot these will get the job done without disappointment.
