Bio:
I am so white collar urban cowboy it's not even funny. I have to work for a living but I work to live. I love travel and getting out of doors. I am a novice at surfing, but I have canoed, kayaked, hiked, biked, and ski all over the world.
I love to take a quick trip but prefer the extended stays in the high country acclimatizing, fly fishing, and making short order of Fourteeners.

Merrell Trail Glove Shoe - Men's
May 7, 2012
Lots of comments about size - I intend to wear sport sox - I have been a solid size 9 for years - should I tack down a half notch? If everyone is doing that, why don't they just make the shoes the right size? I'm like, "What, you didn't notice this when you were designing the shoe and passed a few out as samples?" There's really not much excuse for this kind of inconsistency in industry standards...and it makes buying online precarious. I know not any two feet are alike, and not to be persnickety, but,...if you say Size X then mean it.

Osprey Packs Raptor 10 Hydration Pack - 600cu in
March 8, 2012
I have the generously sized Kode-22 for off-piste but I need something a little more compact...the Raptor 10 with 3 litres seems even a bit much, but the 6 with only 360 cubic inches, is that a bit small? 2 litres of water is ample...I'm having a hard time visualizing 360 cubic inches.
I would really only have the need to pack an extra jacket, cap, snack...no tools or equipment (that's what the K-22 is for!). I have alternatives for overnights...so this is strictly multi-season day use.

Arc'teryx Rampart Pant - Men's
October 3, 2010
No...they are not quiet...walking around in them you have the constant swish-swoosh sound of a synthetic material rubbing. It's not overbearing but it is there....in the same way a ski pant has perhaps lighter in volume. I find the pant comfortable but for the price somewhat disappointed as I bought two pair. They should have stuck with their technical pant material they had @ 4 years ago that was a synthetic blend that had almost a poplin/canvas feel to it. I grew out of them and cannot find a replacement...

Arc'teryx Rampart Pant - Men's
August 11, 2010
Do these make much noise when walking? I am curious to know...I have an old pair from 2005 of other material (47% cotton+poly+nylon) and they were so awesome but these look like a good all around travel pant....but I aint into 100% synthetics simply due to the plasticy feel. Any input out there on comfort and feel/noise??

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot
March 1, 2010
I have used on solo trips to Big Bend used both the pots and the 1 liter cup (and French press, awesome coffee!!) and I used both canister and white gas (Dragonfly) and this system with non-stick and super light weight really made it easy for me to pack, use, clean, interchange the items. I have use don the beach also (Big Shell) and it was an easy use compared to all the cumbersome Coleman stoves I used to use ...

Marmot Exergy Fleece Jacket - Men's
February 25, 2010
Always wash fleece with other fleece or poly fiber clothing, never with socks, cotton, or towels. Use a lint cleaner and then keep the above in mind for future cleaning...if you don't have a full load, wash by hand dude, this stuff dries fast!
