Adventure Medical SAM Splint

Adventure Medical SAM Splint

Rating for this product: 5 April 1, 2009

I've carried a Sam Splint around for years. Finally I was on a trip where one of us tore their ACL on a fallen tree cruising though a glade. It was nothing for a pitch and totally unexpected. I sliced the splint in half ( easy with a knife ) and duct taped the two pieces on either side of the knee. It was a long hobble out but that wouldn't have been possible without the splint.

A nice addition to the quiver.

Moonstone Ultralight Cirrus Jacket - Men's

Moonstone Ultralight Cirrus Jacket - Men's

I got this for a cold ski-resort-day layer and as an always-around backcountry layer. It packs down, in its own stuff sack to the size of a can of Fosters and is very light so it's a no brainer to just take it along. Since it's by default also a wind-block, I can augment my wind resistant softshell giving me an extra 10 - 20 degrees of leeway.

What everybody else says. These have greate ergonomics. Traction, binding, televator all work well. They are easy to get on an off with gloves on. They fit my size 11 ( 45, or 29 mondo) telemark and snowboard boots. I'm very glad I got them!

The best jacket I own.

Cloudveil Serendipity Jacket - Men's

Cloudveil Serendipity Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 26, 2004

I wear this telemarking among other things and it's the first jacket I've owned where I'm dry and warm all day. From 10 (with layers) to 40+ degrees F it's comfortable. You just put it on and go. It blocks enough wind to keep you warm and lets enough through to dry you off and keep from overheating. Construction is great, nice features ( neck cinch for warmth, easy access napoleon pockets). Check out the symmetry pants too.
